I think screech would be really bummed out since Canadians can travel visa free to one additional country in 2015 as compared to 2014 as per Henley Travel freedom index.

Lets bring that number down to zero like Afghanistan because that is better.

Only for Canadians that want to work/study in other countries that is not enough for them. This number of Canadians may be not fit your definition of "Many Canadians". I think a majority of Canadians are happy living in Canada and are also happy to have freedom of movement to VISIT other countries. Suit them just fine.

It is strange that Canada doesn't succeed for common agreement at least with the US. Canadians need visa even when they want to work in US, they even have limitations of how much time they can stay in US.

Nobody can stop you if you want to visit, work, study or live in EU if you are from another EU member state... you just enter and start looking for your place where you want to live, work, study. There is no such a thing as convincing the border control to let you in and look for work.

If you are from EU you are granted by definition to look for work or to live anywhere in the boundaries of the EU.

This is a prerogative of every EU citizen.

You are correct with the ability to work / live anywhere in the EU countries. You won't be denied to another EU country except failing security / health / public policy concern.

Why would I be bummed out about the number of countries Canadians can visit visa free. I don't see your reasoning on how that would affect me personally.

I happen to like the freedom of movement between the 4 countries listed. I like to have the option to be able to live / work visa free like an EU citizen can.

As I mentioned before since the sensitive topic of temporary workers in Canada and people in Canada have the mentality of "foreigners stealing Canadian jobs", the prospects of free movement between the 4 countries is slim.

I agree the chances are slim for this to happen. But your previous comments suggest you are against travel freedom. And ofcourse from your perspective the guy petitioning is just another Canadian of Convenience.

I was never against travel freedom as Canadian already has that with the ability to visit other countries visa free. I am only stating the realities of why we have work / study visas. It is simply because other countries requires Canadians to have visas to study/work/visit here. It would be rather unfair for Canadians to require visas to work in foreign country but that same country can come in to work visa free.

One of the reasons some of the poorer countries do not require visas to Canadians is that they need Canada more than we need them. Canada has a bigger clout. Canadian currency is worth a lot of money for the poorer country. Boast tourism / revenue. India for example a commonwealth would have allowed Canadians to enter visa free but they didn't because they only reciprocate the visas to Canadians due to Indians requiring visas to enter Canada.

There is a difference in leaving Canada permanently and only coming back for medical / social benefits when it suits them over someone who leaves Canada to work temporary for a few years, say about 5 years with the intention of returning to Canada to stay permanently.

I agree to that. The relation with mentioned countries has to on equal footing. I guess thats just common sense.

Agreed there is a difference. But sometimes its difficult to delineate.

it would be awesome if it does not change our relations with the USA.

it would be cool to visit Aus or take a few classes there in one of Aus schools without any problem.

The relationship we have we the US under the NAFTA program (TN visa) is pretty good. However it could be a LOT better. The idea that I could pack up and work in the UK/Australia/NZ without a visa would be great too.

Yes, chances are slim. But I wish it happens
