freaking out a bit...

So yesterday, I came home from work to find that my application forms had been mailed back to me... There was a letter stating that the forms I had mailed were no longer current, but when I checked the website, the forms looked the same to me but I saw this,

Note: This barcode page will not appear if you fill out your application by hand :'(

I didnt fill out the forms electronically because Im a bit old school and took my time and filled out each form by hand with a black pen...Hence the no bar codes with my application!!

I had a panic attack, went straight to an internet cafe and filled out the forms asap ELECTRONICALLY that they had listed on the letter and pretty much mailed it straight back that same afternoon...Am now wondering if I am back at the end of the cue or if they will bump me to where the dates on the original forms are?? Has this happened to anyone else??

We have one in January Batch (Manila) who got her forms mailed back because they were missing a signature (I think), and I think she still got her approval and PPR reasonably on time (not bumped back to the end of queue. Check her timeline on our spreadsheet , link on my signature below. Her name is annarella.

Now I know from your experience that they really do open the application package ahead of time.. I have been wondering about this actually.

Did you have a file number already ?
The reason I asked I was sent back a form to Sign and an other from to complete as well. When the CIC sent the form back to me I Was Afraid that I will put back in the Queue again. But it Only delayed My Application by about 2 weeks.

Thats awful! I always thought you could fill out the forms by hand as well.. I think it even mentions that at the top of the page doesnt it? I hope you still keep your place!

My application was also returned to me because Mississauga requested additional documents. They gave me 60 days to do so. I mailed the application back and i was approved for sponsorship within less than 2 weeks.

Im really hoping I get my place back, or not too far behind...I filled out everything by hand so that I would be able to read and re-read about 100 times before I mailed everything out with all the signatures in place together as a full package!!! On the website and printed pages, it CLEARLY states TYPE or PRINT in black ink...

exactly! it was stated at the top of all the forms, it says that TYPE or PRINT in black ink. that's what we did too..i only filled out electronically the generic application form since they said that it should come with a barcode, the rest were hand written. its been 3 months now and yet no update/response from them. they shouldve returned our application since it was also in hand written form..

To the OP...

Don't worry you don't lose your spot. Mine was returned for a signature and once we returned it I was approved in days.

You would have been given a label with the address and initials of the IO working on your app. This will get it directly to them and they will put you on top of the pile.

Wow kaede1977, that must have been a bit of a shock for you! And pretty stressful...... I don't have any advice for you, but I really wish you the best of luck and hope it is all sorted out with any other problems.

I am freaking out now. I was looking over my application and I noticed I didnt answer one question. I called CIC and asked and they said they could ask you for answer by calling or they could send the whole package back. If they send the whole package back.. you lost your spot and go to the end of the line :'(

Kaede, how long after you submitted the package did they return it to you ?
