For August 1 week, British airways is there which is Delhi-London-Toronto for 61k
For August 2nd week, again british Airways is there with same route for 67k
For August 3rd week, again same flight route but for 75k
For 4th week, Lufthansa is there which is Delhi-frankfurt-Montreal-toronto and for just 58k!!

Why the heck would you spend 74k??

I had 2 hour layover in Frankfurt (connecting flight from Frankfurt-Heathrow-Halifax). Didn't need transit visa. Hope that helps

No problem whatsoever! You would already have an onward flight for Toronto, so no issues. Just make sure that there's a gap of 2-3 hours between landing at Montreal and your next flight to Toronto because your immigration will be done at Montreal and that's where your study permit will be issued. Plus, you will need to collect your baggage and check it in again for the Toronto flight.

I am Indian. Going on student visa this fall. Got visa approved last week. Since then I have been looking for tickets on yatra.com,makemytrip.com, cleartrip.com etc but all the routes are via 2 countries for eg.

New Delhi (DEL) to Vienna (VIE) to Dusseldorf(DUS) to Toronto(YYZ) -------> Price Rs. 74k ???

I know that I cannot land in U.S. at all. So, All I am asking is when I would need a transit visa and how do I get it if it is mandatory? Also, 2 stops are okay or not? I am not able to find any better routes at all and price is touching 80-80k for routes having 1 stop.

Help..!!!!!!!! Please.

Why 21 or 22? Even if you reach on 29 or 30th..you still have enough time to rest and settle a bit...unless you haven't finalized a rented accommodation?? I had my first class on 4th sep last year and I reached on 1st Sep evening. No issue whatsoever! 20k is a huge amount to lose just to get to Canada a week earlier! 20k can buy you 1 month's worth of food and groceries over here.

A lot cheaper. Around 50-55k , You just need to search a bit on all the main sites. Most of the flights you search go via US.

As long as you buy a through ticket to YYZ via JFK/EWR, then it's a good option. Otherwise, if you're going to make 2 seperate bookings then there's no point...you'd get a ticket for YYZ which would probably be 5-10k more expensive at best, compared to landing at JFK/EWR. And, it's going to cost you anywhere between $100-$200 to fly to YYZ from there. Plus, remember that this would be a short haul flight and so your baggage allowance will be just 1 bag of 23 kgs+1 cabin bag+laptop bag. So, that would mean paying an extra $25-40 for each extra checked in baggage.
