Im getting very nervous that something is wrong. Anyone else having the same problem or suggestions as what to do. I am applying from within Canada but im currently out of the country so I cant call CIC as they dont have an overseas number. My boyfriend has called three times and got three different answers. Wait. You should have heard and Wait. Is this a normal time?

How did you apply for PR? Through which stream? Family Sponsorship? Economic Class? If so, which one?

What do you mean by the fact that you applied inland but are currently out of the country?

If it's something to do with Inland or outland, it's probably a spousal sponsorship immigration application. And the current processing time for a inland sponsorship case is on average more than two years...

Not necessarily. People in the Express Entry section of the forum also use "inland" as the term for applying for FSW or CEC while you are in Canada.

I'm applying through common-law from within Canada, but I'm not in the country right now.

It's a common-law visa application. I know the procession time is two years, but I haven't received the initial email to say they have started looking at it. It's been four months since I posted it.

In that case I'd recommend you move over to the Family Sponsorship section of the forum. This is where you will find all of the posts related to spousal sponsorships.

If you applied inland, it's quite possible the fact you are now outside of Canada may be part of the problem. Applying inland requires being physically in Canada and requires you to be living with your partner. If CIC has somehow figured out that you are outside of Canada, they may be reassessing if you qualify to apply.

Are you sure you applied inland and not outland? How long have you been outside of Canada?

No, I can leave the country I made sure of that before I left. My partner and I are still living together I'm visiting family!

An inland application requires that you live together with your sponsor, IN CANADA . The longer you remain outside Canada, the greater chance CIC will discover you don't actually reside here during the app processing, and they will simply reject your application.

Legislative requirements for the sponsor:
A foreign national meets the membership requirements of the spouse or common-law partner in
Canada class [R124]:
-if they are the spouse or common-law partner of a sponsor (as defined in R130) and
cohabits with that sponsor in Canada;

5.28 Applicants who leave Canada before a final decision is taken on their application for permanent residence
A foreign national becomes a permanent resident, if following an examination, it is established
that they meet the selection criteria and other requirements applicable to that class as per
R72(1)(d). Members of the Spouse or Common-law Partner in Canada class must satisfy
subsection R124(a) in that they must be the spouse or common-law partner of a sponsor and
must be co-habiting with that sponsor in Canada.

Mine was a totally different application than yours, but for what it's worth - I applied 11th December 2014, and didn't hear a single thing until 15th April 2015. There were other similar cases posting on this forum at the time who had to wait until late May.

It's insane, but these sorts of timeframes with no acknowledgement are not unheard of (or even uncommon).

I sent mine near Christmas and just received an email that it was received. So that took about 2 months, but I'm in the country and applying for spousal sponsorship. Hopefully that makes the difference. Best of luck.
