Hi, My husband is in the final stages of receiving the PR visa. I have been reading that he needs to bring a detailed list of personal belongings with him. Is there an official form to fill out? As well, we are not moving to Canada at the time of his entry, we will be moving the following month. So he will only be entering with a suit case for two weeks. Is there an updated list of documents, papers or personal items to bring with him when he enters? Is a port of call any airport? Since there is no real communication between CIC London and us, will they provide a entry package with information he will need?
Thank you in advance

Here is a link with some info. You can complete the B4 form before entering Canada. I have not done this myself but I remember this from others posts.

However, if you are not permanently moving to Canada on your next visit you may want your husband to enter as a visitor rather than landing as a PR. There was a recent case where someone was denied entry even though they had their COPR in hand (albeit his wife wasn't with him) because they did not show intent to move to Canada straight away. Others have various views on this and if you can show that you are in fact moving the next month then chances are you will be fine but COPR does not guarantee CBSA will allow entry as part of their remit is to ensure the conditions of the COPR are being met.

Thanks for your reply. The reason we are going is to get the PR visa so how can he enter as a visitor when the PR visa will expire? Should he not be totally honest and tell them that we are moving but we need to finish up business in Ireland first? My children and I will stay for an extended visit as we need to look for a house. Would a job interview confirmation be valid proof that he will be coming back? I'm so surprised by this response as our CI agent said nothing of a problem like him being refused. Please help me sort this out and if any other proofs of landing are needed.
Thanks Paula

Apologies I'm making you worry without cause, yes as long as you are honest I'm sure you will have no problems, the fact you are house hunting and staying longer and he had an interview you will be fine. The case I mentioned seems a bit unique but just highlighted that CBSA have the final say and can deny entry to those with a COPR if they feel they are not actually returning to live in Canada straight away, which you guys clearly are but just have a few loose ends to tie up.

I am trying to understand this . Your husband has received his Pr but he must land soon .. yes , so you and the kids and hubby is coming to Canada so he can land and get his papers(corp) . You stay and look for a home and he returns to Ireland to finish up the bits and bobs.

If this is the case he can just summit a list of items that he is going to be shipping over at a later date Goods to follow . Its called a B4 form. You can find it on line.

No the London office with not give you a package with any information on it except the date when he has to land. Brucem is correct their has been one or two that has been denied.
If your husband is coming with just his suitcase he don't need to write down whats in their, thats just normal travel stuff.

What ever your are moving with the moving company will have to be documented . I'm surprised the moving company hasn't told you this . We are using Pickfords from the U.K and they have explained that we have to pass by customs with a list of items in the boxes . e.g box #1 clothes box #2 dishes. Hope this helps .

Your husband most likely won't have condition 51 on his visa so he can come and go as he pleases.
