Hi, while i found some thread about guiding how to fill out the form B4 i have a few case specific questions i would like to get some feed back on.
Background: I will be landing in Canada in January as a new PR, my wife who is the sponsor will come after me maybe in march or so. (still tied up with work here) She is a Canadian citizen, but haven't lived in Canada for about 8 years. We have a 4 bedroom apartment we will move over via boat later on, furniture, electronics, clothes, jewelry etc.
Q1: if you fill out the B4 forms (Goods to Follow/Accompanying List) can you bring in as much as you possible want? at unlimited value? all tax-exempt as a matter of speaking, sort of as a one-time tax free entry to Canada as new PR. Or are there restrictions?
Q2: the goods to follow, do they need to follow like within a year? in other words, is there an expiration when you need to have all goods in Canada? I am planning to bring very little on landing next month, and ship the rest maybe withing 6 months.
Q3: Can my wife also fill out a B4 when she comes to Canada? She is a citizen, but haven't lived in Canada for 8 years. Which means she has acquired a lot of things abroad, that we don't want to get taxed for when arriving in Canada. are there similar tax-exempt ways for "returning" Canadians? or are we better of writing everything under my name?
