Forgot my date of citizenship

I am completing the form, Application to Sponsor and Undertaking (IMM 1344A). In question 10, it asks the date I became a citizen. The problem is I forgot the date as it was years and years ago. My only proof of citizenship is my citizenship card and my passport. I don't know where I placed my citizenship certificate.

I have sent the application, Application for a Search of Citizenship Records, back on Dec 7th, 2008 to ask for that date but so far, I have not heard of a response back from the immigration department. I have called to inquire about the status of my application and they said it will take a few months as they are still processing the applications from September.

As such, what should I do for this question? The only option I see is to make up a date as best as my memory serves me. I am thinking maybe I can attach my citizenship search application and explain that the date provided is only a rough estimate and I am still waiting for my application to be processed.

Or are there other alternatives? Thanks in advance.

Pre-Assessed..
Do a cover letter explaining that you have misplaced your citizenship certificate and attach the search application so they can see that you've been trying to find out.

If you call the CIC call centre, and give them enough information about yourself, they may be able to find your date of citizenship.
