We are trying to visit Canada for Easter weekend with some family that is here in the U.S. visiting from Colombia. They both have a tourist U.S. Visa and would like to know the process of obtaining a tourist Visa to drive into Toronto, Ontario from Buffalo, NY.

Could someone send us some information on how they can obtain a tourist Visa for them? We tried looking on the CIC website but found no visa information for foreigners in the U.S. trying to drive to Canada.

Anyone's reply is greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

They have to apply at one of the Canadian offices in the US. Here are the instructions for Buffalo. http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/buffalo/imm/visa_temp.aspx?lang=eng But as there is no "walk-ins" you don't have time to obtain one.

Thank you for the prompt reply.

If we were to go to the Buffalo office, would we be able to get a Visa within a day or so? Or does it take a long time for a response?

In the website link you sent the following statement I believe applies to our family:
"Persons lawfully admitted to the United States or Canada may submit TEMPORARY RESIDENT VISA applications, either in person or by mail, at any of the six Canadian Visa Offices in the USA."

I'm assuming this is what will take a long time. Is there anyway to expedite this process?

1. I assume you read the notice on page.

"IMPORTANT NOTICE: We are installing a new computer system. As a result, applications may take longer than usual to process. Our average processing times have been adjusted accordingly. If you wish to apply for a visitor visa, work permit or study permit, we encourage you to submit your application by mail and to ensure that you fill in and validate the form found on our website . We cannot guarantee same-day service to walk-in clients at this time. Thank you for your understanding."

2. You can walk-in, but there is no expediting of the application and the office will be closed on Friday. So you better be there today, if you are to have any hope.
