Yes i was. I just want to know if after completing those foreign police clearances and reapplying SP, did the Embassy approved the visa? Or did tthe embassy asked for other docs. I am just terrified that after re-application, they're gonna ask for some more.

If that is the only doc required then submit that and hopefully it will be alright. If they need anything more they will let you know.

Hi, I was wondering the same thing. I did an 8 months internship in the US a year ago and now I'm planning to apply for a student permit in Canada. Will I be asked for a foreign police clearance in the long run during my application? And if so, any information on how to get a foreign police clearance?

Thank you! :)

The best suggestion that I can give is you to contact USA embassy or consulate if your are outside USA or appropriate local authority(Police station, FBI or any immigration or law enforcement agency) if you are inside USA. Normally this processes are simple and you dont have to loose your mind over it unless you actually have a criminal record ??? . For canadian study permit application , you have to show atleast some sort criminal record clearance i.e Police clearance/certificate or Certificate of civility or certificate of good conduct etc , if you have stayed in any country more then six months after turning 18. So better collect and show it it makes thing simpler.

I was asked the same by the Canadian Embassy. You can try to get FBI PCC since they process mine for about 2 months. But make sure your PCC is issued 3 months before you apply. You can secure PCConline, check cic.gc for that. What i did was download the forms on the link provided by US which is FBI website, got my fingerprints on our local police office/NBI, pay thru credit card with cc auth form, and mail it via Fedex.

Oh, great! That was really helpful. I'm planning to start my SP application early next year, college starts on April 2015 so for now I'm in the process of completing the requirements (IELTS etc…. ); and that's when I realise I might need a PCC later on. With that, can I apply as early as now for the Police Clearance?

Also, does the forms you downloaded only includes the "FD - 258 Fingerprint Card" and the "Credit Card Form"? Or was there any other forms to be included?

Thank you so much! :)

Make sure by the time you received ur FBI, everything else is pretty much ready for visa filing. So, as i have said, mine was a 2 month process. I just sent them the applicant information form, standard fingerprint form and credit card payment form.

You're welcome! :)

July 1- CAnadian Embassy requested US PCC
July 3- mailed FBI request for PCC (via FEDex)
July 7- FBI received it
July 24- emailed FBI and was informed that background check is 4-5 wks to process from the date the request was received (no expedite)
August 1- still processing
August 5- FBI mailed out the request (could take up to a month for delivery) via USPS first class (priority mail) delivery mail
