For the visa application that already exceeded the processing time

Hi,

I finished my degree in Canada. After I got my post graduation work permit, I applied online for the temporary resident visa on October, 23rd. According to the processing time in CIC, the visa applications submitted on October, 24th were already processed on November, 17th. But, I still did not hear any news about my visa application and there is no change of my application status. Do you know what happened to my visa application? I am very in hurry for the visa. I will have a travel plan very soon, but I do not know what I should do now.

The timelines in the CIC website are just a guide. You can't plan on them.

Since my application already exceed the normal processing time, do you think maybe there are some problems with my application? in addition, do you think I can contact the Ottawa processing center for my case? The Ottawa processing center only has the fax number and the email address. There is no phone number for the center.

There is no such thing as "normal processing time". The time posted is a courtesy and shouldn't be taken as more than a mere guide.

Most probably you will be given a generic "we are processing your application" answer. But no harm in trying.

Today, the CIC post the current processing time for online visa. Today, the visa applications submitted on October, 31st were already being processed. I submitted my application on October, 23rd. It is very weird. I am worried about my visa.

That is just a guideline, in no way it is intended to reflect actual processing times.

If you use online application, have you checked your cic account (mycic)? Probably you have unread messages in there..

Best place to check for the status of your application is via mycic website since you applied online.
