Hi everyone
I'm just wondering if anybody there would have any idea about my concern. My friend and I recently got our skilled work permits (august this year) so we had our husbands apply in the Philippines for spousal open work permit. They both submitted their applications last month mid week of September. My friend's hubby got his medical request a week after his application was received. I'm just worried because my husband didn't get his still and it's almost 2 months now since his application was received by the embassy in the Philippines. My husband is a Police Officer so I don't know if it has any bearing at all. Is it possible that he won't be required to have a medical exam done since he's a public servant? Need your feedback pls..... THanks!

Things to REMEMBER after VISA granted
By Chel Mañez and Aileen Rose Tan-Magtibay in Spousal/Common-Law Open Work Permit to CANADA (Files) · Edit Doc
1) Book your desired schedule of flight.
- Please get ONE-WAY ticket only!! Even for study permits and tourist visas for your 1month to 4-year old babies.

2) Check all the things you want to bring.
- Clothes, valuable gadgets, food, etc.

3) You can bring two(2) 23kgs of luggage -- PAL, Cathay Pacific (the rest, please share)
Handcarries must be maximum of 2 bags (in Vancouver), with a total of 7kgs weight (maximum) --- but weight doesn't really matter, size does..
- Please be sure to choose a slimmer handcarry.
- Due to confusing information, AirCanada was deleted from the above. Others paid 70$ for the 2nd check-in luggage.. You can just confirm it to your travel agency.. :)

4) Please put all your LIQUID things (e.g: lotions, shampoos, water, nail polish, hand sanitizer, perfumes, etc.) in your luggage, be sure all of those are tightly wrapped with packaging tape or duct tape.

5) You can bring canned goods/instant noodles/instant foods/medicines/vitamins but be sure to put that all in your luggage/box.
- Please don't bring PILLS, to avoid delays!

6) Put all your IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS (e-ticket/boarding pass, passport w/ visa, CEM letter, spouse's WP, spouse's LMO, spouse's contract, spouse's OEC, and spouse's photocopy of passport w/ visa) in a plastic envelop, in your handcarry... or whatever works for you..

guys.. share ko lang 'to..

According to Peregrine Immigration, Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) has announced that, from 25 October 2012, certain non-Canadian spouses and partners applying for Canadian residency will be granted an initial period of two years conditional residency prior to being eligible for permanent residency.

Background

CIC is concerned about cases of marriage fraud, whereby ‘paper’ marriages for the sake of Canadian residency are entered into. The background to the decision to introduce conditional residency can be found here.

Several other countries, including the US, Australia and the UK, already issue conditional visas or permits to spouses or partners of citizens or permanent residents, granting permanent residency only after the conditional period has come to an end and the relationship can still be verified as genuine.

Who Is Affected?

For new applicants from 25 October 2012, conditional permits valid for two years will be issued to spouses or partners in a relationship of two years or less or who have no children in common with their sponsor at the time they submit their sponsorship application.

The spouse or partner must still be living in a legitimate relationship with their sponsor two years after the day on which they receive their permanent resident status in Canada. The status of the sponsored spouse or partner may be revoked if they do not remain in the relationship.
