But I'll definitely check the link. THANKS Angel.

Here are a few tips:

Winter is a long and gruelling season! You NEED to check your weather app before going out para icheck kung may snow storm, freezing rain or fog. Lookout for the 'wind chill/feels like' and imatch dito ang OOTD. Don't underestimate the cold, it is always better to overdress rather than freeze out there dahil nagkulang suot mo. If possible, choose a car that has heated seats(uusok pa din bibig mo kahit nasa loob ka na ng car, pramis ganun kalamig!!). Most people stay indoors during winter, so pak na pak ang mga indoor activities/parties, books, tfc and netflix. But that's the time na pwede mo din maenjoy ang toboganing or skiing (if you love the open cold). You can also go to your nearest YMCA kung gusto mo mag swimming, basketball or mag gym. So basically just find things that you love to do like a hobby habang naghihintay ng spring/summer. And when summer comes puro backyard party na yan, visit parks, camping and mga rib fest. Make the most of it coz the warm weather doesn't last too long.
Hehe thanks for the tip sa heated seats! Sa toronto kami mag land and we've been looking for a car. Please share more tips about the essentials sa pag pili ng sasaknyan. Maraming salamat! :)

Hope your sister is able to come and join you soon! Possible siya mag qualify for PNPs.

well thanks. sana nga. but may PNP na ba sa Ontario? Last time kasi wala. It doesn't make sense if pupunta yung kapatid ko dito but magkaiba kami ng province. I'm in toronto by the way.

As requested, some car tips (in my opinion):

Not sure about defrosters but aside from the heated seats, it's also good to have heated steering wheels and heated side mirrors. But you can still survive naman kahit wala yan, malamig nga lng sa una. Other dealers include winter packages para manghikayat ng buyers. Remote starter will also be good para pwedeng painitin muna sasakyan before you enter your car. All wheel drive, i think, is not really necessary kung sa toronto kayo, dahil hindi naman ganun kakapal ang snow here unlike other canadian cities. Winter tires helps a lot too, if you can make a deal na isama sa package when you buy your car. It can easily cost around $1000 to buy brand new set with rims. And I think may discount sa auto insurance pg naka winter tires. Another thing to watch out for is auto insurance. When I was shopping for a car, some insurers gave me ridiculous quotes that are like $450 a month.

Thanks sa tips! Sobrang helpful!

Hopefully bumaba soon! If ever may room for improvement pa sa IELTS score, yun ang pinakamadali magpataas ng CRS. Pag nakacreate na ng EE profile, waiting game nalang kung masendan siya ng NOI ng ontario to apply for PNP.

Hi!

Newbie here.
I would like to seek advise from you guys though by reading on this forum, I learned A LOT.

Last week, I sent my ToR to WES (Buti pa ToR, in 2 days nakarating na ng Canada! Haha). Now, I am waiting for my ECA from WES. I am a BS Electrical Engineering graduate, 23 years old and; currently, I am preparing for my IELTS exam. Target date of examination is on June 2018.

Any advise, should I secure my proof of funds right now? Well, honestly, I will just get help from my family members for the show money. So, I am a bit confused/unsure on that part since the money will not be all coming from me.

Also, I just want to know if I am on the right track? Haha. Though, I have read stuff in CIC site.

Lastly, this thread is very helpful!

Thank you!

Hello! Yes, right track! ECA and IELTS first then make sure na nameet mo din yung requirements for work experience. After receiving your ECA and IELTS, nasa better position ka to know what approach. For example kung ang taas ng score mo, you basically wait for direct ITA. Kung medyo mababa, check out which PNPs you can apply for. Well, you could actually do this now... And then pag dating ng ECA and IELTS mo, ready ka na agad sa next step mo.

This years feeling ko mas mataas kailangan na scores, so prepare well for your ielts, yun pinakamadaling humatak ng scores mo pataas. If ever may 6. 5 ka, try mo magpare-evaluate.

Good luck! Kelangan ipanotarise mo yun na hindi na nila hihingiin ulit and that is yours.

Hi.
How about the proof of my work experience? Should I ask my employer for a letter of reference regarding my job role/description in the company?
Thank you.

In my opinion, I would wait until ECA and IELTS are done first. Because if you have a really high CRS, and will have direct ITA in the next 2 months, then yes, go and ask for your current and previous employers for reference letter. Please read about the actual required information (i.e. Annual salary, job responsibilities, etc). It doesn't take too long to request and receive those info,it took me about 2 weeks and I requested from. Overseas and had my in-laws pick them up from my previous companies. Once you have direct ITA, you have 90 days to submit all docs. However if you're going the PNP route, you may have just 45 days after you receive noi and 14 days once you register (oinp 2017) to 60 days (manitoba) to submit. But if PNP, depende kung kelan ka makakareceive ng NOI or Letter to apply.

Hey guys!

My wife has lost her credit card in year 2008. She has declared it lost and requested the bank to close the account, however, it did not turn out that way. As per my wife, the limit was just 10k and only used once. She only spent nearly 1k on that account befor she lost it. For the span of 10 years, it accumulated up to 54k. I hope this will not affect our application. Any advice will be greatly appreciated. TIA

Also, a lot of people dont declare their CC. Unless that is reflected in your submitted SOA or bank letter, di nila malalaman yun.

Hello po mga kabayan!

Just want to ask for any ideas on how I can sponsor or get my brother and his family to come here as PR in Canada. I got my PR status last July 2017 and my sister in law is a registered PT. My brother is assisting my mother in our small construction business and I got one nephew. Will I be able to sponsor them?

Thanks in advance!

Wowza! Thanks for all the tips. I especially loved the fact that you gave us ideas on how to battle cabin fever during the long winter months... then na excite ako sa mga rib fest!

Hi @EngrDylan !

Whereabouts in Canada do you plan to settle? I heard northern British Columbia has good opportunities for those in construction, development, architecture, and engineering... I attended a webinar on prepareforcanada.com last year about it.

Definitely start preparing your funds. It needs to have been in your account for at least 6 months. Part of the proof of funds documents are bank statements (not just certificates) of 6 months duration showing all transactions within the time frame. If they see that you acquired the funds recently and you don't supply supporting documents regarding on the source, they will get suspicious that you just took a loan to "show money". (In my case, I submitted proof from my company that I qualified for a substantial bonus together with the payslip since its deposit appeared in my 6-month bank statement docs). Some people submit notarized gift deeds or certificates of donation showing that the money was gift from parents and that the donor will no longer have claim to the funds. If it is in a joint account, you should be sharing it with a member of the family who will be going to Canada with you as PR too (eg, accompanying spouse). Remember, the money is not just for "show"; Canada wants to know if you can survive in case you are without a job for the first 6 months.

Good luck with IELTS! Just prepare well and you'll likely do fine. I actually enjoyed the speaking test as I am a bit loquacious.

Keep us posted on your progress, kabayan!

Kapag nag-PDOS, you don’t need to pay Travel Tax, do you? It says on the website no need pero gusto ko lang i-confirm.

I will just be going home to Manila for one day para sunduin and anak ko. I will attend the PDOS for my daughter para hindi na siya magbayad ng Travel Tax and so that I don’t need to show her return ticket when we go back to SG.

Php400 lang naman yung PDOS, di ba? May bayad din ba ang kids? Since exempted ang kids sa PDOS, pwede bang i-register ko na lang siya then get her PDOS certificate?

Thanks!

You could check your local provincial nomination program, pero at federal level, malabo. AFAIK ang family petition is for parents or children of a PR/citizen. Best option now is to have them apply under the Express Entry, seems like they have reasonable work experience and since they're a family application, so combined points. They could also claim additional points for having you, an immediate family, who's a PR.

If you're still a Philippine citizen (even if Canadian PR), you will still have to pay for the travel tax (TIEZA). Check your plane ticket, sometimes (for PAL), it's already included. Other airlines, likely you'll have to pay for that separately.

Thanks for the reply.

I know kids below 12 years old are exempted from attending the PDOS as I already got the appointment.

I still got a valid work permit in SG by then and my daughter will also get travel tax exemption as dependent of an OFW.
