For LOW Skilled

There are certain low skilled occupations in AB and BC that can apply for PNP. In AB, you have to have worked for 6 months before you can apply. In BC it's 9. On their websites, they call them semi-skilled.

They couldn't make it 3 years because on a low skill permit, you would have to leave the country after 24 months and be gone for 4 months before you can apply for a new low skill permit. See info on low skill project here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/low-skill.asp

Thank you Leon,That is right Btw I was just talking to our Immigration Minister of BC Murray Coole,We need lots of low skill tourism workers,Waiters,Kitchen Helpers,Cleaners etc Come on down
Leon and BCGuy, thank you very much. So, you have to return home after 2yrs then wait for 4 month before you can apply for anothe work permit? Is that correct? And what if my employer extended my contract for another year for example. Do I have to return home still or my employer should inform the Service Canada about my LMO that needs extension. Again, thank you very much for the input.

You still have to go home after 2 years unless your employer can upgrade you to a skilled permit.
On the low skilled web page at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/low-skill.asp it says that: You may apply to extend your work permit in Canada. For example, if you have already been working for 12 months, you may apply for 12 more months without having to leave Canada. However, after working for 24 months you must return to your home country for four months before you can apply for a new work permit under the Low Skill Pilot.

Yes, a promotion. Then you get a skilled permit. For example, if you are working in a fast food place, you are a low skilled worker. If you are promoted to shift manager, you become a skilled worker, get a skilled work permit, can get an open spousal work permit, have a lot more options to apply for PR etc.
