Hi there,

After you received the ECOPR, do you need to wait for the PR card, before the applicants can apply for work here in Canada? Yes, we applied for open permit, but it seems they will not provided it.

My wife, who is the principal applicant just received the PR confirmation on portal thru email. There is a job opening here in the hospital near us, a regular part time position. A good opportunity for her to begin with.

No need for PR card. The COPR is adequate to prove status when you apply for the job.

No need for a PR Card. Use your eCOPR letter and go to Service Canada to get the new SIN Number.

You don't even need a SIN number to apply for (and start) a job - your CoPR is all you need to start working. It can take weeks or months to get your SIN and card, so apply now for a new SIN, and give your new employer your SIN as soon as you receive it (you apply online, and receive a letter in the mail with your new SIN in a few weeks (card will follow later - likely MUCH later).

If you are able to physically go to the Service Canada offices you will be able to get your SIN the same day. I've heard people have been having issues applying online.
