Dear Brother,

As your post was directed to a user, I (probably others too) refrained from replying. Now that it's open, here's the answer:

In the Canadian immigration system, designations are not important. All u have to do is check that your duties (job responsibilities) match.

That's it. If it matches, even if it matches by 70-80%, forget about your designation & apply. U'll be thru.

Regards.

Thanks for your reply brother. I am feeling very humble...

I asked this question because in IT industry mostly managers have that this designation also.. So thought to clarify.

Most project manager handle internal and external resources with financial responsibilities, I don't think they are involved in hiring decisions. Make sure you have resource management and budget as part of your responsibility matrix.

Yes Brother :)

This is really helpful.

If anybody can please provide the list of 8 to 10 responsibilities of IT managers (which they have provided while filing their case or are going to file) from which I can get an idea, and this way can be on bit safer side.

My suggestion is look at the responsibility metrix in Canada's job database. Whatever the position you are applying for, make sure you mention all those responisibilities as part of your job u r are currently doing or u have done in the past. That way, chances of rejecting on the job responsibitioes is very remote.

Hi newceo, I really appreciate your suggestion.

Yes, I have visited the CIC website and have checked the sample JD, there are 4 duties/responsibilities specified.

I was asking to get an idea of more reponsibilities from all forum members who have already worked on this part.

My designation is Manager, Systems. Your job responsibilities must match the given job responsibilities under this NOC. Infact these responsibilities are very common in managerial level and I believe any standard IT Manager can qualify under this. Such as, budgeting/planning: as a PM you're definitely involved into budgeting and planning your project. Then there's client meet. Again, you must be involved into recruiting your team members. You must be involved into deciding and implementing strategies and policies regarding the project. Above all, as a PM the project is under your control and supervision. Project execution should be one of your main duties. Also, don't you decide who needs what training among your team members and send/nominate them for the same?
What's your total IT experience? You must have started as a developer and then gradually promoted to PM.
Better put all kind of experience with relevant NOCs(doesn't matter if those are not included in the 38 NOC list) while filling up the form just to prove that you have been gradually promoted to a management level. Put 0213 as your main NOC and collect reference letter only for 0213 (that's what I did).
Apologize for the delay to respond back. I am also a mother of two kids and my younger one wasn't well. You can mail me at madhumita.gh@gmail.com if you need to know anything further. Responding back will be my pleasure.
