Hello everyone,

I have few questions regarding the applications:

1-APPLICATION FOR PERMANENT RESIDENCE IN CANADA

12- Education: How many years of formal education do you have?
what does formal education mean?
primary, elementary, secondary and university ... OR only secondary and university?

19- Identity Card number:
which shall i provide? the ID i have in my resident country or my country of origin ID?

Details of Family Member:
my husband has a daughter which will not accompany us to Canada, shall i still provide a photo of her?

2- SCHEDULE 1

6- Your status in that country:
what do they mean by status??

9- If my husband has applied before to Canada and has been refused, which point shall i tick YES?

12- Membership or association with organizations
13- Government positions
14- Military service
If i have nothing to write in the above tables, what shall i write? NONE (as the application says) or N/A (as the instructions guide says)? i mean which has the priority to follow? and shall i write NONE or N/A in all the boxes or only one?

15- Addresses
when i write my present address, to which date shall i write? or shall i leave it empty?

3- ADDITIONAL FAMILY INFORMATION

*Only names should be written in English and Native language, but the other info only in English, right?
*what i understood that my husband and I each should fill a form of his own, am i not right?
*My husband is the principle applicant, so if i am to fill a form for my self, in SECTION A, my name should be in the applicant space, right?
*My Mom and Dad are dead, so what shall i write in their Marital status and addresses?
*In SECTION B, i have a step daughter which i will mention, so i don't need to sign below where it says "I certify that i do not have any children, either natural or adopted", right?

*If i want to attach an additional sheet for extra info, i just type it in word format, print it and attach to the original application?

*I am Egyptian living in Dubai, I read a lot, but something i couldn't figure out, where shall i send the applications and documents? to Sydney or London?

Guys am done with my questions for now, i know they r A LOT, but i REALLY need your help in these issues, if u can't help me, at least tell me which thread can answer my questions?

Thank you so much in advance

First of all I think that if you read carefully the instruction guide of the CIC and the one given by your Visa Office then you would know the answers.

Hello everyone,

I have few questions regarding the applications:

1-APPLICATION FOR PERMANENT RESIDENCE IN CANADA

12- Education: How many years of formal education do you have?
what does formal education mean? Total years, from primary till your highest degree
primary, elementary, secondary and university ... OR only secondary and university?

19- Identity Card number:
which shall i provide? the ID i have in my resident country or my country of origin ID? Your country of origin's ID. If you see carefully later they also ask you to provide any papers that states your current condition to the country you live now. This can be an ID, a residence card etc. So in the end you will send both.

Details of Family Member:
my husband has a daughter which will not accompany us to Canada, shall i still provide a photo of her?
They say it clear on the form itself "You must provide the following details about each of your family members, WHETHER they will be accompanying you to Canada or not" So, yes you give them what they ask you. And don't forget this form is to be completed by your husband. Not you.

2- SCHEDULE 1

6- Your status in that country:
what do they mean by status?? Citizen- Permanent Resident- Student etc.

9- If my husband has applied before to Canada and has been refused, which point shall i tick YES? If he applied back then again for permanent residence, then he will tick the third "YES"

They are both the same. There is no priority. Only when it comes to "Membership of organization" my Visa Office asked me to write "I have never been a member of an association or organisation" Well I wrote it and I also wrote N/A to be sure.

15- Addresses
when i write my present address, to which date shall i write? or shall i leave it empty? To the current date. e.g. if you are to submit your app in May then write till 05-2011

3- ADDITIONAL FAMILY INFORMATION

*Only names should be written in English and Native language, but the other info only in English, right? Yes, only the names in English
*what i understood that my husband and I each should fill a form of his own, am i not right? Yes you are right, each of you has a separate application form to fill in
*My husband is the principle applicant, so if i am to fill a form for my self, in SECTION A, my name should be in the applicant space, right? Yes, in this application form you are the applicant and then you write your husband's name second.
*My Mom and Dad are dead, so what shall i write in their Marital status and addresses? I would write there N/A
*In SECTION B, i have a step daughter which i will mention, so i don't need to sign below where it says "I certify that i do not have any children, either natural or adopted", right? According to the instructions guide you must include also your step-children, so you should add her as your step-daughter

*If i want to attach an additional sheet for extra info, i just type it in word format, print it and attach to the original application? Yes, just don't forget to mention the number of the question when you write it. And your name on the top

*I am Egyptian living in Dubai, I read a lot, but something i couldn't figure out, where shall i send the applications and documents? to Sydney or London? Sydney, Nova Scotia

Guys am done with my questions for now, i know they r A LOT, but i REALLY need your help in these issues, if u can't help me, at least tell me which thread can answer my questions?

Thank you so much in advance

You are most welcome Zaraa,
we all had our questions and concerns when we completed our applications and people in this forum helped us so much!

good luck with your application. Just gather all the needed documents and take your time while completing all the forms, step by step. Double/triple check everything and I'm sure it will all be fine. :)

Additional family information (IMM 5406)
Who needs to fill out this application form?
This form must be completed by:
 You, as the principal applicant,
 Your spouse or common-law partner (whether accompanying you to Canada or not), and
 Your dependent children aged 18 or over (whether accompanying you to Canada or not).

SECTION A
Write the personal details for:
 yourself,
 your spouse or common-law partner, (if applicable)
 your mother and
 your father.

Note: If you do not have a spouse or a common-law partner, sign the declaration at the end of Section A. SECTION B
Write the personal details for your children. It is very important that you list all of your children (even if they are already permanent residents or citizens of Canada). This includes:
 married children,
 adopted children,
 children of your spouse(step-children) or common-law partner,
 any of your children who have been adopted by others,
 any of your children who are in the custody of an ex-spouse, former common-law partner or other guardian.
You must answer all questions. If any sections do not apply to you, answer “N/A”.
Note: if you do not have any children, sign the declaration at the end of Section B. SECTION C
Write personal details about your:
 brother(s),
 sister(s),
 half-brother(s) and half-sister(s),
 step-brother(s) and step-sister(s). SECTION D
After carefully reading the statements contained in this section, sign and date the declaration.

To my understanding if PA and all Dependents have to fill out this form separately, then in SECTION A
Write the personal details for:

 yourself, (person filling the form)
 your spouse or common-law partner, (if applicable) (person filling the form)
 your mother and
 your father.

Here Spouse/ Dependant is the applicant so the person filling the form needs to write their name in before the applicant column (it is applicant not the principal applicant)

Please correct me if I am wrong, because I have done so.

Thanks
Wicky

Hehe, you are right wicky :)

When Zaraa will fill in the additional family information sheet, it doesn't say "principal applicant" - "sponsored member" as I had in mind. So she has to put her name first and her husbands name second. I just opened the form myself to check. And for the child she will have to include the daughter of the husband as step-daughter.
Sorry for not giving the proper attention needed on this.
As for the rest points that you mention, I wrote the same things like you, so nothing more there.

:D
