Hello,

I am planning to visit my fired liven in Buffalo this summer. I will be flying from London, UK. I would like to get direct flight and the only possibility would be for me to fly to Toronto and my friend picking me up from the airport and the us together driving to Buffalo. I am a Polish citizen and have been living in London, UK for almost ten years, currently working for KPMG. I am holding a visitors 10 year visa, allowing me to visit US for consecutive 6 months with every entry. My visa is expiring in 2016.

Please, advise me which visa I would be required. I was wondering if I would qualify for transit visa, as I won't be in Canada for over 48 hours, less than 4 hours I should hope. I will need that for the day I fly in and the day I fly out too. Let me know what my options are. I checked that the visitors visa costs a lot of money as transit would have been free. However, I am not sure for which one I would qualify.

I do not hold biometric passport. I am aware that have I had it I would not require visa at all.

Please reply asap,
M.

I don't think you can go out of the airport and travel by road to US with a TRANSIT VISA. It's normally given if you have a valid air-ticket enroute to US within 48 hours. Any confirmation from public transport may work as well - I'm not too sure.

This is what I found from CIC:

Transit Visa is required for persons travelling through Canada for less than 48 hours on their way to another country.
Note: To obtain a transit visa you must provide specific evidence of your travel itinerary from your transportation company or travel agent.

Make your own judgement or call your local Canada Visa Office.

Hi Rossei,

I've bought ticket round-trip HKG/USA via Canada Toronto.

That means i will transit via Canada 2 times.

I apply for transit visa online, is that correct?

As i doubt if the transit visa of Canada valid for single or twice or multiple entries?

worry..........

You cannot leave the airport on a transit visa. If you intend to leave the airport, you have to apply for a TRV except you are from a visa exempt
country.

Good luck

Kaori,

Honestly, I don't know much detail about Transit Visa as I never required it. But since you're traveling from HKG to USA via YYZ; you may not need Transit Visa at all.

Read this carefully: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?q=420&t=16

(After you read the link above, check TWOV & CTP programs to find your eligibility)

Thank you so much, but as for Russian passport i do need a visa for transit purpose.....

I've checked with some people and heard that CIC may probably provide multiple transit base on my round-trip itinerary.

wish me luck............
