hi suttam
thanks. yes, i am excited as is anyone who is going to land in maple land soon.
yeah sure we can meet in canada. i am going to edmonton. what about you?

Those who are going to Alberta please advise how necessary is to get you credential /degrees assesses through IQAS (International Qualification Assessment Service) http://employment.alberta.ca/immigration/4512.html
Please advise what the requirements of the service are. What is the procedure?
Is it worth to spend money on this?
Experienced person please advice.

Hi friends!I got my pr visa a few days back. Planning to land in mid April visa will expire April end. Its going to be just a landing trip, we are planning to just stay for 8-10 days and fly back to India. We are confused whether to land in Toronto or Vancouver. We will be travelling with our 1 year old baby so wondering regarding climate.
Any inputs will be highly appreciated.
Will the application for SIN card and PR card procedure be complete soon even in Vancouver like what I have read about Ontario or will there be a delay
Looking fwd to some suggestions
Gopi

I believe weather & natural beauty wise Vancouver will be better option...

@ gopi
congrats for your visa
manogyan is right. if you want moderate climate, then vancouver tops.
i hope that you will atleast get hold of your PR card and then come back to india. if possible stay for 60-70 days, get hold of your PR card and then come back to india.
PR card arrival will take same time of 70 days no matter where you stay in canada.
SIN number you will get instantly.
also don't forget the provincial Health Card.

ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha, I am waiting for you on the rockies with a bottle of red wine ;)

thank you friends for your valuable inputs.
hitesh i will have to return back to india in about 10 days, i have a lot of things to take care of before we finally move so Iam planning to give a friends address in toronto or missisuaga or PR card, can I do that if i do my landing in vancouver?
also from what i know i need to establish 90 days of residence in that province to become eligible for health coverage so i was thinking we apply once we come there to settle permanently and not during this landing trip, what do you say?

regards
gopi

hi
also i read that at vancouver airport it takes about 4 hours to complete our landing procedures while i have read its about 45 minutes to an hour in toronto.
is this true?
Can anyone who have landed at vancouver shed some light on this please!
we are worried because its a long flight journey and with baby and 4 hours of paper work will be too hard for the little one
thanks

@ gopi
you surely are busy. yes, you can land anywhere and your PR card can be received by friends or relatives in any city or province except quebec.
please make sure that whoever receives your PR card informs you immediately and you at once need to get hold of "THE" most important piece of identity of our status in canada as soon as possible.
if you are landing in BC, Ontario or New Brunswick, there is a waiting time of 3-4 months to get health card.
manitoba and alberta can give you health card on same day of landing.
as you are going to land in toronto, it is wise for you to wait till you are prepared for final settlement and then apply for your health card as it will take 100 days for you to get health card in toronto.
no idea about landing experience at vancouver.
wish you smooth and hassle-free landing.

3 DAYS AND COUNTING...
I HAVE FILLED UP MY "IQAS" FORM AND PLAN TO SUBMIT AS SOON AS I LAND. I HAVE TO PAY CAD$ 100.
IQAS WILL CONVERT MY EDUCATIONAL DEGREES AND QUALIFICATIONS FROM INDIA INTO ITS CANADIAN EQUIVALENT.

Hi Gopi,

this is incorrect..my bro landed in vancouver a month bk & he completed all in 45 mins...
