Hey folks,

I have a really random/unfortunate situation at hand and I was wondering what the best form of action would be to remediate this.

I’m flying domestically within Canada in ten days. Two days ago, my wallet was lost/stolen. I was one of those idiots who carried their PR card around to use as proof of ID, including everything else. At this point, I have no piece of valid Canadian ID. The only thing that I have to prove that I’m a permanent resident of Canada is just my COPR that is stapled to my foreign Pakistani passport.

So I have two questions: would it be feasible for me to board the flight with just my passport? Would it cause problems if I’m asked to provide any other proof of permanent residency/status/etc. and I have nothing to show for it?

The second question: is there is anything I can do to request an urgent PR card and/or BCID, etc. from the federal or provincial government? Has anyone ever been able to do that? If so, how did you do it?

I already filed a police report, and I’m going to get a copy of it to attach with a processing of an urgent PR card even though the website says it only processes urgent PR cards for international flights where there is a three week period but would explaining the situation that I have no valid ID and that the provincial government refuses to provide BCID, health care card, etc. without this help them send it sooner than later?

Any help/experience/advice will be greatly appreciated.

You should have no issues flying domestically with just your passport. No PR card is required since you're not exiting and then re-entering Canada.

You cant get it urgently unless you provide proof of urgent travel plan. Even then dont expect to get it in less than 3 months.

You should apply for a replacement of ID/DL. You will get a temporary ID (paper). Take this with you along with the passport when you travel.

Passport is suffice if you dont have any other form of ID, e.g., provincial ID, Driving licence, PR card, etc., but you should have an ID.
