I also flagpoled to activate my Young Professional Visa while being out of status and everything worked well. If you are still within the restoration period (90 days) there is no issue. I mean this is the whole point of this restoration period - to RESTORE your status (which is what you are doing by activating your PR visa/new work permit/visitor visa at the border).

This makes sense. It should work, but the experience may be unpleasant depending on the CBSA officer that they get.

Guys I did my flag polling today and became permanent resident ;D

Both my wife and I did that - we both were out of status but had an restoration of status application in process..this day is also within the 90 day period...anywho...the officer did not even bring that up..the whole thing completed in about 30-45 minutes, we signed the CoPR, he congratulated us on becoming permanent residents and we left..that's all.. :D

Take good care when talking to people at CIC call centre..while some of them are really helpful and empathetic others are not...one lady said that if you are out of status then you cannot do landing..the members on this forum mentioned is correct..the whole point of 90 days is just that - you should be able to leave the country without earning any immigrations offences. Anyway hopefully my experience and outcome may put the mind of those in similar boat at ease.

Thank you all guys for sharing your experience..it has been really helpful. take care and good lucks.

Hi Guys,

I have a questions about my expired status. My work permit expired in June and applied for BOWP, it was refused too as I didnt have the second AOR on 30 september. Since then I have been on an expired status and didnt apply for a visitor visa or anything.
I got my PPR request on Nov 12 and now waiting for the COPR,

I am worried that my expired status would make an issue, although I am still within the 90 days of expiry.

Please advise.

No problem. The 90 days are called "restoration period" because it is the time you have to restore your status. As long as you restore your status within those 90 days, there is no issue whatsoever. And yes, changing the status from out of status to PR is perfectly fine. Should you not receive your PR visa by then, make sure that you apply for a visitor visa though.

Guys, this is little convoluted..so let me explain,

I was on work permit and so was my wife as dependent. Our application for extension (applied before the then expiry date) got refused and we became "out of status". We have applied for restoration of status within the 90 day period given therein the refusal letter and have not heard back yet from CIC.

While this was going on we received PPR for the permanent residency application and we have sent out the passports.

Questions

1) Will we have any issues with getting the passports stamped with Permanent residency visa
2) If we were to do flag polling will we have any issues at the border?

Has anyone of you folks have done anything similar? Please advise. Thanks in advance.
Why was your BOWP Extension refused ?

Greetings everyone! Replying to an old post instead of creating a new one.

WP will be expired on July 15 and there is an ongoing WP extension application that should not have issues to be refused.

I received CoPR and will need to wait for the local office in Ottawa to allow validation on July 25th (Second Tuesday of the month).

Flag-poling is not an option for me. So basically I'm looking after the outcomes of WP extension application until July 25th.

Your input is appreicated.
