Hey everyone
I wanna know if anybody did flagpoling with criminal charges ?
Now the charges are withdrawn. Are they gonna affect permanent residency ?
Because on copr ,they ask bout charges, conviction etc .
If we answer yes to that, will cic ask for documents again regarding that ?
Tell if something same happened to anyone

If you had criminal charges, please be honest with the CBSA officers during landing, especially if they were minor infractions. Was it a vehicle accident involving rear ending? That is a common example. Also provide documents to proof that those charges were withdrawn and explanations why it happened. When people sue you and bring you to the court, you are criminally charged. That means they think you are at fault, but not necessarily proven that was your mistake. So if the charges are withdrawn, most likely you should be okay.

Remember that if Visa or CBSA officers found you lying in any steps of your application, they can cancel your application at any times...

I did border crossing yesterday . Cbsa didn't allow me to land first . Then cbsa asked me to sign copr with saying yes to criminal charges though I show her my court record with withdrawn charges. .she said you were guilty and charges are withdrawn by alternative measures.
Cbsa officer make me feel stressed
She said it could be revoked if cic doesn't want to grant PR to you .
She said signed copr is not guarantee .
Also she said signed copr will be sent to cic sydney .then they will decide .

Now I am scared if my pr card doesn't come or delayed due to extra verification .
Or cic demands documents of court record again .
I wana make trip outside canada to my backhome .
Now this is a big pain .can't relax even after landing

It is hard to give you guys advice without knowing what the charge was for and whether it was in Canada or abroad. If you are worried about privacy you can ask your question under a new account.

However, here are some quick notes:

  • A withdrawn charge in Canada will has no effect except that it will have to be disclosed at your interview and in all future applications.
  • A withdrawn charge outside of Canada may have an effect depending on the reason for withdrawing the charge and whether the offense has an equivalent counterpart in Canada.
