Flagpoling: A Guide For Canadian Workers

Hi I'm from India and I'm in Canada since last Sept.

My Student Visa will expire this December.

I'll be eligible to get the work permit for 3 years but the PGWPP process will take 120 days.

Can I flagpole to get my work Permit and then apply for TRV?

Any help will be appreciated.

@Deep :- Yes, I did the flag-polling for Open Work Permit but I had a US VISA. One of my friend also did the flag-polling and he didn't had a US-VISA and he also got his work permit.

So, you are good to go.

Hi Guys,

One quick question:

1. I received my AOR on 19th Feb.
2. Applied for BOWP on 25th (Paper application)
3. Currently on closed work permit, another employer has received LMIA for me. Yet to apply for Work Permit.

Can I do flag-poling and obtain a new work permit (or change my existing condition) to change my employer?

I called CIC: and the guy said, there are chances to get a new work permit but it is always a risk.

Hi, I completed my 2 years of masters in Aug 2014 and was eligible for 3 years of Post graduate work permit. But i did not get full 3 years as my passport was expiring in Sep, 2016. So i was issued work permit till Sep, 2016. Based on my status, my wife was also issued open work permit till Sep, 2016. Now i renewed my Indian passport.

Before our work permit expires, Can i do flagpoling and get our work permit extended?

Currently on here in Ontario on a Visitor Visa.
I have been nominated By Nova Scotia Province Under PNP.
Can I do Flag polling and get my new work permit at the Boarder?
I do Have US Visa as well.

I have the similar situation. Expired TVR, no US visa, have valid study permit. I want to make sure that I do not need to extend my Visa before I do the flag-poling.

Is it any certain time for flagpoling at BC border? or it i open all day for landing.
