First time dealing with T4s. How to get it done?

Hello guys. :)

I searched for some T4 posts but I didn't happen to find what I was looking for right away, so here it goes:

It is my first time ever dealing with T4s and I would like to do it by myself in the easier and most straightforward way possible. I have T4s for 2011 and 2012 'to do'. So what do you suggest? And please consider that I have the CEC Permanent Resident application in mind.

Thank you very much for your attention,
Rubens M.

Well the name of the paper my boss handed me at the end of each year is T4 (2011 and 2012).
Oh, maybe what the CEC application need is the tax return? Maybe I use the T4s to do that? please let me know what is it that I do with my t4s for permanent resident and how to do it. :)

oh dear! Your T4 is one of the tax documents you use to file a tax return... In your case I would suggest perhaps getting professional help, at least to get these first two returns filed, so that you can learn a little about the process before trying to do it yourself. H&R Block is but one option -

T4s are given by employers. They show the income you made by working for that employer. You will need to include a copy of all your T4s with your permanent residency application.

You will also need to attach your latest Notice of Assessment (NOA). This is something you get when you file a tax return. The T4 is used in your tax return filing, along with other expenses, and incomes you might have made during that year.

I also recommend going to an H&R block and filing your tax return through a professional, as it can be complicated to do it yourself the first time.

Good luck!

I would go to an accountant who just charge only $30- $50 for filing the taxes rather than trying my self.

I believe you have to buy a software to do it yourself...Seniors please correct me

Thanks guys.
