Fingerprints? At what stage?

At what stage do they usually request fingerprints?
Is it true that they usually request fingerprints if you have never provided them before?
How much time do you have to provide them?

Usually requested 1-2 weeks after in process. You have 30 days to provide them.

From the posts in this forum, it could be at any stage after it goes into 'in process'. Sometime they could request even after the test. it all depends on the application. But usually majority of them are sent after 1-2 weeks into 'in process' stage. Good luck!

My application has been in process since Dec 23, however, Biometrics has not been requested yet.

Although, I did give my Bio-metrics back in 2016 as an In-land PR applicant, Hoping, thats the reason for IRCC not reaching out to me for Biometrics.

1. Only applicants. When CIC does a Canadian criminal records name check, there is a positive hit. Then fingerprints are request to determine if the applicant is one with the record or not.

Do they send an email or you can only find out if you log in? Fingers crossed, they won't need mine as I will be away next week and very busy till the end of the month to obtain finger prints

They should send an email OR postal letter if FP are required.

FP request can be at any stage, a few weeks after IP or 15 months after you apply as one friend had.
Having provided them in the past should not make a difference as they're meant to wipe them our afterwards, that and IRCC isn't amazing at linking things (except of course how I know a load of people who've had their Citizenship application address refer to some ancient address from not even PR applications but old work permits).

It does not take a long time. I think I was at the center for giving mine less than 15 minutes (obviously doesn't help if you aren't near a center).

Thank you! I live in downtown core so it’s not a problem. However, I know that every step like this delays application and mine is somewhat urgent. That’s why I was wondering. And looking at the stats most people who gave them in the past were not asked to provide them for the citizenship application. I didn’t..

I gave mine within 3 hours of getting the email. Still took 6 months to get a test and that was co-incidentally after I told them to block out two weeks due to travel. They won't confirm when it's all good either, if you want to know you'll have to call them after 3-4 weeks.
