Fingerprints - are they necessary for ALL applications?

I'm applying for PR under the CEC, and I'm wondering if I need to include an RCMP check (base on fingerprints) with the initial application.

The CIC document checklist does not request an RCMP check, but an Immigration Consultant has advised me to get one done anyway.

So, do I get the RCMP check, or should I submit the CEC application without it?

Thanks! Pete.

RCMP check is not mandatory , but in few cases while doing name check , they find duplication of name or with some reason results are not clear enough , what CIC do is request a RCMP check - which is basically a finger print check . By RCMP results they become quite sure and easily locate the identity of the applicant.

Your Attorney is just making you prepared in advance for that situation , but usually check Takes 5-6 business days.
So its up to you , whether doing it now or if in case CIC requests.

My advice to you would be - do it when CIC requests ( if you are and would be in Canada until your PR finalizes)

no RCMP is on need basis only , if CIC need they will ask for it
I will suggest don't do it by yourself

Thanks
