I'm just wondering if anyone submitted fingerprints to FBI with Live Scan electronically?
How long did it take to get FBI criminal background back from FBI?

Did you have problems with Canadian Immigration because it was live scan vs. fingerprints on paper?

Where can I get livescan done I called my police department and they say they can do it but they don't submit to FBI only to my state.

I'm confused please help

Thank you,

Just did a livescan printing (not at a police station) that were transfered onto paper card stock. I sent them off to the FBI yesterday, but I don't have high hopes of it being accepted. About half of the prints were deemed "unacceptable" by the computer, but the tech over-rode the computer because she was unable to obtain better prints. :( They looked "ok" on computer, but then when transferred onto the card stock paper, they looked "as good" as the prints I had done in ink previously which were rejected. We'll see. The tech told me that after the 3rd rejection the FBI does the check through ID such as social security number. Sigh. Such a hastle.

I guess there is no electronic transfer to FBI for background check that will satisfy Canadian Immigration, I came across post where people said that Immigration didn't take FBI background done with livescan and electronically submitted.

I guess I have to do old fashioned way with paper and ink and sent that to FBI.

Yes livescan will be acceptable because half of the US states have stopped inked fingerprinting all together. Live scan scans your fingerprints and sends the fingerprints to the FBI electronically the report you get back from the FBI is the original report the things you get from channdlers is not an original it is a PFD you receive in your email and you can edited it therefore it is not accepted by CIC.

Are you saying that I can go to Channdelers and do livescan there and and submit electronically.
And i will get FBI report from Channdelers that is not original and it can't be used for CIC
But later on i will also get original FBI report directly from FBI which can be used for CIC?

Did you do it like that?

I don't know how it is in your state but in Maryland they do not do inked fingerprints at all anymore I went with my friend into the local shopping mall they have a live scan shop there he paid to have his fingerprints done and the report was mailed to him directly from the FBI I think it took him like 2 or 3 weeks to get em back. I do remember him telling them that he had to have the original because it was for immigration maybe that made it different?

Livescan is different from other "channelers" (I think). I first used Fieldprint (a channeler) and got an email back from the FBI like Creampop said. Those are not acceptable. This time I had it done electronically but put onto a standard finger print card. That I submitted together with a copy of the rejection letter I got from the FBI, which had rejected my last set of inked prints. These electronically transferred to paper prints look no better than my ink ones did. I sent them yesterday so it'll probably be a week or two before I find out if these get rejected or not. (bitting nails)

Thanks to NicAnn it just dawned on me... Live scan is run by each state and is considered a government agency, a Chandler is just someone who does it for you, like having a rep... ie... a private eye or a security background check agency...

YES, I got fingerprinting at Certifix they are certified and approved from the DOJ and FBI ,you can find the nearest location for you.
FBI criminal background results can come back in 48 hours. I was told by my local Sheriffs department. Though I have been printed several times, for my certificate of clearance and for a couple of jobs, so that is supposed to help. I would estimate a week at the longest for a new person.
you can get live scan done at nearest company supply electronic fingerprinting I suggest certifix live scan have more trusted and time saving.

NO. Per the FBI, electronic prints cannot be transmitted across the International border. If the fingerprint technician can print them onto the FBI FD-258 card, it will be acceptable to the Channeler. Since there aren't any Channelers in Canada, the card will need to be mailed to their U.S. address. The letter will be mailed to you (at a U.S. address) and you then forward that same letter (make a copy for your records) to CIC.
