Hi,

I'm not sure if there is anyone else that would fit Leon's subject above. Yes, i'm the fortunate one - i did get my LMO and now awaiting for the Work Permit. My take is, gor for any route that could bring you closer to your goal. Invest an hour or 2 everyday to look at jobsites (on top of previously mentioned site look at Jobbank.ca)

Goodluck.

what is LMO?

LMO means Labour Market Opinion but it is now called LMIA or Labour Market Impact Assessment.. an employer should provide one to a foreign worker to be able to apply for a work permit..

Credentials section in Jobbankca website do not show anything related to NOC 2173. Kindly help

Here's a great tool that searches through current job postings from numerous Canadian government and private sector job search engines such as www.monster.ca, www.jobbank.gc.ca, www.workopolis.com, etc...

CAPM/PMP Certificate

I am thinking of getting my CAPM/PMP Certificate while in my home country; I am waiting for my papers to be processed by Ontario (PNP). I want to do something to help me find a decent job when arriving in Canada.
Any advises on what certificates are valuable in Canada right now? I am currently working as a manager in pharma industry.

what is the best website to find jobs in Canada?

does it make sense to start looking for jobs, before i got my "stuff" recognized?

...and before i got my PR?

Without being in canada and having a PR the chances of getting response to job applications are very slim.

What you can do in the meantime is to research for companies in your field, see what skills they are looking for..assess your gaps/if any and start working on them to be better prepared when you get your PR.

Hi, can someone kindly explain the steps to practice/ become a professional geologist as a career in Canada. I understand that going through a regulatory body is paramount. I have a BSc geology from Nigeria, and I plan to relocate. I will appreciate guidelines on what to do. Thanks :D

Soon I am going to be Canadian a PR. I am computer engineer (Networking Professional) . But right now I am not having any experience in my field. Please suggest me How can i start my career studying / working or studying and part time job.
How I get job in my field if I dont study or what should I study. Like right now I have 2-3 months in India so is there any course that I can do here which will help me in getting job in Vancouver BC.

Just wondering how did you qualify for a PR without work experience? Even under the old FSW program you would need at least 2 years work experience to get enough points.

If i were you, i would land when i get the PR visa, and then go back to my home country to find a job - work for 2 years then move permanently to Canada.

I've been living here more than two years now, and from my experience..no employer will be willing to give you a job which you've had no prior experience in. You can only compete for a job which you've "done" before...so my advice, get some work experience, and preferably from a company that's recognizable here in Canada...i.e. any of those global well known companies - that would give you some credibility and make your transition a bit easier.
