Hi Everyone,

I just want to ask. Im completing the questionaire on application for permanent resident in express entry, i have n invitation to apply already. i got hold of this question. Is your first child financially dependent due to disability? What does this mean. My child is not disable. He is well and able but he is still financially dependent to me since he is still studying. He is 21 years old and I want to include him in my application. The government said they will gonna restore the age of dependent to 22 yrs old again but currently it is still what I know is the age is still 18 and below. If i answered No on this question my child is not included in the application but if yes they are considering. Can somebody please enlighten me about this. Will appreciate much. Thank you

Just looking at the question and ignoring the context, question is direct and answer is "No" because they are asking about if your child is dependent on you financially due to disability. They are not just asking if the child is dependent but asking about a child who is dependent and disabled.

For PR application, as he is over age 19 and not disabled (fortunately), he cannot be considered as dependent and cannot be part of your PR application. Refer this - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/department/media/notices/2014-06-23.asp

He is not your dependent from a Canadian immigration perspective according to the current rules. At this time you cannot include him in your application.

We do not know if or when the government will change this rule.
