Hi all,

I'm currently in Canada visiting my daughter and I'm filling out application to extend my stay here. My daughter supports me financially. She's a Canadian PR.
For the financial proof document, should I be using the bank statement in my TD bank account or from my daughter's? I heard some people say that it's better to use the account under the applicant's name. In that case I can just ask her to transfer some money to my account. However I'm also concerned that it will give the CIC an impression that I have tie with Canada and a strong inclination to immigrate here.

The reason I'm being extra cautious here is that my last Visitor Record application was rejected by CIC. I'm currently applying for both restoration of status and extend of stay so that I don't wanna give bad impression to the officer.

Thanks for your reply.

If you have already been rejected once there is a high likelihood you will be rejected again or your restoration will be rejected. Extending your visitor status I definitely is not an option as a visitor. Normally you need to show that you have the funds to support yourself for a TRV. Bayou can include proof of your funds and your daughters.

Thanks, due to several restrictions related to COVID there's no choice for me but to apply for a restoration of status as a visitor now.
Mind I ask what you mean by
"Extending your visitor status I definitely is not an option as a visitor."

I can provide proof of my assets in my home country (real estate, investment account, saving account etc.) But I'm not sure if i should show CIC my Canadian bank account and money (around $10k, which I believe would be quite enough for 6 months). Does this lead them feel that I have strong ties to Canada?

There are very few countries where return travel is impossible. You can certainly try to get your status restored but still no guarantees. How long have you been in Canada? The fact that you have a Canadian bank account is not typical of a visitor.

My last entry was in January 2020.
I've successfully extended my visit once in July 2020, approved early this year.
However my second application for extension is rejected last month, and was asked to leave Canada immediately.

the fact that you’ve been in Canada for over 1.5 years in one of the issues. What country are you from? Are there actual travel bans or is it just difficult to return home?
