Are there any programs available to Convention Refugees or Refugee Claimants that provide loans for purposes such as renting a room, purchasing a used car for work, and other needs? Which banks and non-profit organizations offer such assistance to refugees?

Like other Canadians you’ll need to save, work to get establish credit, take public transportation, often rent a room to start off, etc. There have been housing aid programs to help people move out of shelters because housing is so expensive but most are full and not accepting new applicants. Being an asylum claimant and newcomer is very difficult. Most work 40+ hours a week especially if you are a single person and if you have a family both parents usually have to work to support a family.

Certainly you can apply for Ontario works or ODSP you can get car loan then don’t payback or take all benefits

You have to qualify for either OW or ODSP both provide a very small amount of money and one requires you to be very ill and have almost no savings. Working is a much better idea. Taking a loan and not paying it back is a good way to get sued and ruin your credit score.

Alright so how can I apply for TRP inside Canada?

Not like others
God bless you if exists?

Good luck applying.

Two other comments... If you are simply in Canada without status based on overstaying a visa (vs. having a failed refugee claim), then I think the TRP is worth trying. If you happen to have a failed refugee claim, then IMO applying for the TRP is a waste of money. Your choice of course. Also, if you are in fact on ODSP and are applying for PR under H&C, you'll want to make sure you are including arguments for financial and medical exceptions in your H&C application. This complicates your H&C application and it may make sense to work with an immigration lawyer if you're not doing that already. Good luck again.

Follow the instructions in the link below. This includes directions for applying from within Canada. Note that based on experiences on this forum, processing times for TRPs are around 1.5-2 years at this time.

In term of my status I’m failed refugee claimant with OWP falls under TSR
NO I decided already I’m not gonna waste my money to lawyer anymore even my H&C I submitted by myself no more lawyers
Yea my application is complicated I’m in fact on ODSP but not sure about my arguments to officer convince to get financial exemption so do you recommend me to apply TRP while my H&C file in progress for 5 months now ? I don’t know what should I do also I have open work permit I’m afraid if I apply make more complicated my application.
Thanks again for your in puts

I'm not a lawyer and can't give you professional advice. However in my opinion there's no chance a TRP is going to be approved if you have a failed refugee claim. Also, to the best of my knowledge, within Canada TRP processing times are still 1.5 - 2 years. So you will have a decision for the H&C application before they process your TRP. In my opinion applying for the TRP will be a waste of money. But again, I'm not a lawyer.

It’s unclear if you are in Canada with a family but in general trying to be one financially self-sufficient is the best thing you can do for yourself and your H&C application. Have you been on ODSP longterm? Are you receiving other financial aid because many cannot afford to live on just ODSP. is there medical care in your home country? Agree that TRP is a long shot or else all other failed asylum claimants would all be applying for TRPs.

Interested topic
Are there any other financial aid and assistance I didn’t know about? Except ODSP?
What is the significant effect long term or short term of ODSP in chance to approve the H&C?
That’s why I’m asking is there any other assistance cases as you said can’t afford to live only ODSP ??
Awesome other part of ur comments
Absolutely and %100 medical care is available in every country even in the worst country Mozambique
So don’t worry we gonna apply soon wil tell all individuals that I know
