What are the job prospects in Financial Sector in Canada?
I am investment banking professional with ACCA(UK), DipIFR (UK), CPA, CGA (Canada) and CFA Level 2 and also hold a masters degree in accounting from UK and have over 3 years experience in investment banking field.
I am a PNP applicant in Nova Scotia.
Is Nova Scotia good place to find finance jobs? I am thinking of planning this in near future.

Experts advice please.

If you are looking at financial services jobs, then Toronto would be the place in Canada. Toronto region is the hub of the Canadian financial industry – banks, investment firms, pension funds and insurance companies.

Toronto houses the following:
- 30 per cent of all financial services headquarters in Canada
- two of the world’s largest life insurers
- seven of the 10 largest global hedge fund administrators
- three of the top 50 global pension funds
- headquarters for 123 securities firms
- headquarters for nine of Canada’s top 10 mutual fund companies, based on assets under management.

Thanks Stanlee for the insights.

I am also in the same boat. Awaiting PPR for AOR in October.

Simultaneously , have started exploring Job opportunities. I have 9 years of banking experience in India with Citigroup, mainly.

What's your advise for approach I should follow.

Rgds,
Since you are already exploring job opportunities, that is the best that you can do from India as companies generally do not entertain interviews for overseas candidates as they are not sure about when you would be landing in Canada. So the closest you can get to get an interview call is once you have landed in Canada. Meanwhile, lookout for all the companies which you would like to target, look at their career pages, LinkedIn pages, try to connect with people over Linkedin, if you have any friends over there, try to see if they can introduce you to someone in their contacts which you can leverage once you land in Canada. Identify important job consultants, whom you can fall back on in case you do not succeed on your own. So once you land in Canada, you will be well equipped.
