Hi,

My wife and I are finally in Canada and starting to sort out our application. We just have to get her birth certificate and such translated and her medical done soon. Then just collate all our evidence. I am just wondering about the open work visa that I have seen mentioned that can be submitted with the sponsorship application. Is this generally well received with the application, have people had trouble with it. I have read the requirements are that you have to fullfill 1 of 3 so, able to work for 6 months, have a higher education qualification (she has a B.A. ) or be in one of the specified trades. Would the fact that she has a degree mean that that would be possible.

Any info would be great. thanks.

The only requirement for OWP is that you are doing an INLAND application. After stage 1 (sponsor) approval which takes up to 10 months, the applicant will get an open work permit. There are no other qualifications at all required.

Okay, is there a standard open work visa that needs to be attached with the standard spouse sponsorship application or will that be just a given with the application. I am a bit confused which is the right way to do it.

Just send the application to extend/change work conditions (open work permit). Submit it with the inland application with a separate processing fee of 150$
