Final Request extension of 30 days

Hi,

I received my final request to submit our passports (Me, My Wife and our two children) today and were given 30 days to do so.
I am travelling home to Ireland from Canada and my wife is also travelling home to Africa from Ireland for the first time in three years, over the next 30 days...obviously we will both need our passports.

Do you think this would be reason enough to ask that they extend the 30 day period to 60 days?
