Final PR Step- Didn't get address for sending passport (Bogota)

Hello!

So yesterday afternoon I got the e-mail requesting that I send my Passport to finalize my PR application.

However, now I'm confused because nowhere in the request letter does it say where I should be mailing it. I'm applying from Colombia, but also have Mexican citizenship. The e-mail says that if I have any new information on my status change I should e-mail the Mexico office, but the other times I've had to ask a question the Mexico office says they aren't dealing with my case. The Canadian Embassy in Bogotá says they have no information about Visas so they are no help at all. Finally I called VFS in Bogotá and they say they can receive my passport to be sent to Canada but they can't even tell me what the processing time is because they don't usually do PR stuff. And who knows if they will even send it to the right address. I've had bad experiences with their misinformation before.

So I've e-mailed the Mexico, Colombia and Ottawa offices but I can't believe I will have to probably wait over 2 weeks for a reply about an address (If I even get a reply).

They are also asking for RPRF but I made that payment along with my application. Should I just attach a letter reminding them that it's been paid? Any help would be appreciated. And I'll include my timeline below as well!

Did you apply gcms notes during your PR process? Usually gcms notes would have your Visa Office address. Otherwise wait for response from cic.

Hi, it is a good question you are asking, because it is the same for my husband. His PPR email gives exactly the same info as yours.
He is applying from Venezuela.
However, in his email there is a phrase " Please ensure that the courier company used has service available in Mexico", which, upon our understanding, means that we should send his docs to Mexico.

Please keep me posted if you will get any information regarding your case.
Thanks.

Hi,

So this is the reply I got today:

Dear sir/madam,
Based on the instructions provided in the request letter, please send the documents to the office (Ottawa or Mexico) which is more convenient to you.
Your RPRF has been paid, there is no need to send us the rend us the receipt.

Which is great, but also confusing because Mexico now has a separate office for Visas and Immigration. I was trying to find the address again but couldn't, and the previous times I've sent my passport to have my travel visa stamped, i've sent it to the Schiller address. Not the Visa address. So I replied asking to clarify that address.

I also called VFS in Bogota and it seems that they can also send it on, either to the Canadian Embassy in Bogota or to Ottawa. The risk here is that since they don't usually deal with this process they can't tell me how long it will be.

And nope, I never got the GCSM notes because I wanted to wait a while longer before getting impatient!

Since there is only one address on the Embassy if Canada in Mexico website, I think this is it. But you are still right about the confirmation.

I got a fast reply earlier today, with the following information!

Dear madam,

This is the address to send passport in Mexico:

Immigration Section – Section de l’immigration
Schiller 529, Col. Bosque de Chapultepec (Polanco), Del. Miguel Hidalgo, 11580 Mexico City, D.F. Mexico
You got the right address to send passport to Ottawa. However please note that the Ottawa office will not send passport to an address outside Canada and the USA.

The Bogota VFS keeps insisting that I should be able to send it to the Embassy here, and since I have to go to the courier right next to the embassy (it's the only one that sells you the pre-paid envelopes for embassies), I'll stop by and double-check. Otherwise, the Mexico one will be our best bet. Hope that helps!

Just an update: I went to the Canadian Embassy here in Bogotá with my documents to double-check. The person at reception checked with somebody else and confirmed that I could drop off my documents, along with the pre-paid envelope. The Embassy building has a little side office for dropping off mail. So I did last Friday. I won't celebrate until I have my passport back in my hands though!

Did you actually dropped it off at the Embassy in Bogota? Without sending it to Mexico?

I don't think we will be that risky. They said we should send it to Mexico, so that's what we are doing.

Yes there is a correspondence office inside the building where the Embassy is in Bogotá so I dropped off the package there (but could have also been able to mail it instead). And last Tuesday my application was updated saying that my residence has been approved so now I just have to wait for them to send my passport back!

I did it this way because the instructions I had been given were so unclear but if you were given better instructions about sending it to Mexico you should definitely do it that way!

Last update,

Yesterday I got my passport back, along with the PR confirmation letter! From the time I dropped off my package to when it was returned it was a little under two weeks.
