Hi,

I was enrolled into a 2 year diploma in Toronto. Now I'm failing the entire second semester!!!

Would i have to pay those same fees again which I paid at the start of the semester???

My study permit and visa are valid till July 2015.

Can I be deported if I drop out and wait till September/January for a better program considering I'll be visiting India in December for a month?

if u fail, you need to pay for that failed course/s again to enroll.

study permit and visa is no problem, it can be extended if your graduation is going to be late.

3rd question idk.

It is important that you work harder. Failing courses can be impedement to further acquisition of study permits. If the program doesn't match your academic strength, discuss with your university's academic board. You may be able to change to a different program. Applying to a different university can prove to be difficult since you need to send your current transcript too with failing grades and they might not accept you. In the meantime, you won't have problem with your study permit till the July 2015. Before this date you should either back-up or resolve with your university to change your program. So far as you maintain your enrolment and you've the financial means to study, study permit will be issued or extended. Good luck and keep us posted.

Thank you hell911 and dok!!!!

I'm so ashamed of my grades right now and the fact that I have no one to blame for it. This is something insane but I really want to pursue

something that would help me polish my writing skills.

I know that it would be a shock to my parents but I'm allowed to make my own choices right?

If you guys or anyone else reading this happens to know of a good creative writing course on other than certificate level and which does not require

a bachelors degree, please let me know!

Just for letting you know, I was enrolled in something related with IT for which I also had a 3 year diploma from India.

I hope you'll make it through. Sure, you should make decisions yourself that're best for you; not for the seek of your parents. But you must be willing to accept the consequences. All your parents want to see is a successful son who they can count on.

With regards to a course on writing skills: if you want to pursue a bachelor degree in English/anything connected to writing or in short literature, then you'll need to prove your writing skills. I suppose this's not good for you. You may end up in a very dangerous and hopeless path. I understand that you've problem with English, particularly writing. Some universities offer courses in writing for their students to polish their writing skills. Some of these courses are free of charge. Does your previous university have one?

In short, in your case I'll advise you not to pursue a program that entirely leads to mastering of literature/writing. You lack the foundation, all you need to do is to take some short course to improve upon your skills and pursue a program in the field that you want or you were in before. Another issue is to find a university which supports foreign students with courses that help polish their writing skills while pursuing their program. Thre a lot in Canada. All you need to do is to read a lot on your field of specialization as well as other english books. Also you need to develop the habbit of reading your lectures, closing your books and writing what you remember. This helps people with poor writing skills to survive within their fields of specialization.

Do do hesitate to write here if you still need help or clarifications.

be careful rules changing june 1st

"As of June 1, 2014, all study permit holders in Canada will need to actively pursue studies. This means that:

if you hold a study permit, you must remain enrolled and make reasonable and timely progress towards completing your program; and
failing to do so could lead to your removal from Canada"

so whatever u want to do do it before june 1st..after june 1st u have to maintain good academics and be enrolled in a designated institute.
