Hello,

i married in Jordan and my application is still in process, should i list myself as married or single ?

If you are married, you need to say you are married to CRA on your taxes (for the tax year you got married in). It doesn't matter if your spouse lives in Canada or not. If they don't live here, CRA will ask you for your spouse's world income in their home country.

hiiii :)
i filled 3 tax returns since living with my spouse; i changed my civil status and list him as spouse - his name, no Sin number and the country he lives in; at the income the accountant wrote nothing since he's not a PR yet (that's what she told me and CRA didn't seem to complain)
i actually put the tax papers in the application (so it shows the length of relationship) and they kept those papers
so definately don't file as single anymore, especially since u were married before Jan 2012

yes you are right missmini. i called the CRA and they told me to list myself as married and and include some notes on our background. my wife is classified as a non resident.
