I'm the husband living in Canada and would like to sponsor my wife living aborad, to start I have a couple questions:

1- Do I have to gather all the documents and send them by post in Canada or is there an option to submit it online as well? I saw this link and wasn't sure:

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/application-forms-guides/use-application-form.html

2- Form 1344: I will fill that form and sign it, but it also needs my wife signature. How do we do that in a legit way without getting issues with Immigration Canada.
I fill it out, validate, save it, email it, she prints out, signs and dates it, then sends it to be by post, I sign and date then send to processing centre?
Or
I fill, validate, print, sign/date, then send the sheets to her by post, she signs and date, send it back to me by post?

1) There is no option to apply online for Spousal Sponsorship, you must send the package to the corresponding office.

2) More than one form requires your and your wife's signature.

The first recommendation is to start gathering the necessary documents because in some countries it takes weeks to obtain them. If your wife is from a country where English or French are not official languages the documents will need translations, and that will take additional time.

It's better to fill out the forms when you have almost everything ready to send your application. IRCC updates the forms regularly and if that happens you will need to start from scratch. If you send an outdated form your file can be returned without being processed.

If you plan to see your wife while you are preparing the application, you can fill out the forms while you're together. That way there is less margin for error.

If not, you can fill out the forms in the parts corresponding to your information and send them to your wife via email, so she can fill out her part, validate (where is applicable) sign, send it to you through mail, you will sign where it corresponds and send it to the IRCC.

What my husband and I did was fill out the forms when we were together, and we both keep copies. When we had everything ready to send our application I downloaded the most updated forms, (IRCC updated 3 forms 1 week later) I filled out all the information, signed it and sent it to my husband using DHL. He signed where it was required and sent the package to the office.

In the end it depends on what seems better or easier for you. I'm just trying to give you an idea. I wish you the best luck with your application!

Thanks Drapath88,

Yes my wife will need to translate few documents, it's in North Africa (arabic). although "some" documents might be obtained in french, we're working in parallel to check some translation offices.

I like the idea of gathering all the pieces while or before filling the forms, we're think "while" working on filling the forms, because come of those documents might expire as well (like the criminal record). And not planning to visit her over there, will do everything remotely and when times comes and all is ready, she'll DHL the package to Canada.

Now that part that I confused at and to be honest worries me a bit in case it creates some issues with IRCC is this:

"..... If not, you can fill out the forms in the parts corresponding to your information and send them to your wife via email, so she can fill out her part, validate (where is applicable) sign, send it to you through mail, you will sign where it corresponds and send it to the IRCC...."

For my form 1344, I thought, whatever way I use to get it to her to be signed, it'll be me who "validates" the form. I don't know what all is involved and encrypted in the bar code, but I'm just afraid that maybe the location/IP...etc are there and if validated overseas that raise a red flag at the IRCC ..etc.. I thought, instead, maybe I fill it out, validated here in Canada then email her the "validated" form so she can print it out and sign it then DHL it back to me to sign it here, and even in that case I was worried about the dates , where the validation is first then her signing and me at the end. But you suggesting that I fill it out and she validates there, in fact she can do everything too, fill the form and validate from her own computer.

For her forms like the IMM008, I think it's straight forward where she can fill/validate/sign then DHL it to me to sign it. I don't see conflict in dates and coding ..etc

PS: we still have so many other questions, like the criminal record when they talk about attaching all of the family, does it mean she has to get one for her parents and sisters and brothers!?.

I can understand that everyone here is busy with life and might not have time to reply. But appreciated in advance for the replies and very understandable if not able to. also if someone found some very helpful links here of threads where all was discussed in details, please share it.

Thanks.
