Filipinos: Things not available in Canada that we should bring when we migrate

Am just starting this topic for us to be more prepared in migrating. Please share info on what things we should bring in Canada (like tabo, choc-nut, vegetarian chicharon) because its not readily available in the Canadian stores/market.

if you are smoker cigarettes are very expensive bring 2 rims...your favorite shampoo...or soap ....they had a lot but if it is not hiyang to you ....sorry..bring some dried fish...hopia expensive here...some filipino food you love..but dont declare food with dairy...like milk...and seeds...ok...chicharon the best you cannot bring this here but..its up to you...and your prayers booklets and rosary or picture of jesus or mama mary...if you are catholic... thast it goodluck!

Yes true there's no tabo here... There are Filipino food stores here but it can be pricey, anyway you can't bring in fresh veggies when you land, liquids only limited quantity allowed in airplanes so it's better to buy here.

One thing you should do before leaving our country is get a haircut, least expensive here is $20. Clothes are also more expensive so you should cobsider bringing more of that.

If you happen to live in big cities like vancouver, toronto, calgary or edmonton, there are few filipino stores selling native products, like shampoo, or frozen tulingan, or saging na saba or goldilocks ensaymada, chips etc.....and some chinese stores also sell phil-made stuff, so you wont be missing that much...unless you want to bring ur avorite foods that are not restricted.. yes its pricey there..
i would suggest bringing filipiniana dress or suit which you might need during special gatherings, and phil flag to wave during international events, original cds of ur fave music particularly opm(including xmas songs) and movies perhaps, a pampanga parol ... magic sing is the popular gadget to bring..

Well, you will NEVER hear me encouraging anyone to bring cigarettes. You may be surprised at how UNCIGARETTE FRIENDLY it is in Canada. You are not allowed to smoke in any public buildings, near the entrances, in cars with children, etc. If ever there was a time to quit, this may be it! It may even increase your chances of getting the job you want. Good Luck.....

Even better, bring your clippers and hairdressing kit (including travelling adaptors) with you before leaving your country. This will ensure you would save at least $20 for haircut.

baby pa ata ang kid mo ano? ask sana kita ng requirements. ako kasi nag email na sa edmonton public school board to ask for their requirements for the registration ng mga anak ko. di palang sila nasagot.

sabi kasi ng tita ng husband ko transcript daw ng mga bata eh dalhin namin. eh sabi sa school, school to school nga daw ang issuance nito. i clear pa nila if pwede nila give sa min.

Sorry for the late reply Ate Olive, been busy job hunting My suggestion is to get the Form 137 from the school and this is what you can give to the school here in Canada where your kids will enroll. Tell them the school to school thing does not make sense because the one that needs your kids' grades is in Canada. Will they send the transcript to Canada? Tapos Philpost lang gagamitin that will take more than a month... Hehe, baka mawala pa...

My daughter is just in Kindergarten so her report card that was only up to the second grading period was enough for the school where I enrolled her.
