i did Masters Diploma in Business Management, from SCDL (symbiosis centre for distance learning), in 1999-2001.

I did it from an Instt. which was then known as "Correspondence section of Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies".

In 2001, SCDL was formed on autonomous basis.

now, i too think chances are thin of VO giving me any point for this course, as it s not a Masters Degree.

query- what if i arrange "Class attended per week" documents, my friend has a private instt.

will they consider and give any leverage?

impt query-
is there any authority anywhere, which can analyse my syllabus and mark sheets to verify if these are Equivalent to a Masters degree in India or Canada?

meanwhile, I have got a formal letter from SCDL stating that :
1. SCDL is one of the Instituions of Symbiosis family.
2. the Program Curriculum of MDBA are designed to cover the Program contents which are normally covered in a MBA degree.

i think it will also strengthen my case.

any suggestion will be a life saving one

see distance learning is not the issue... If the university is has government of India granting then no prob.... If you have attended class 15 hours per week then you'll be awarded points for that course.....

Another thing it is not gonna make any difference that your masters is equivalent to MBA as any masters degree is worth of 25 points.....

hmm... this is interesting. I understood it very well. All I would say here is, it depends on the view of Visa Officer. (S)He might contact university to verify this... I suggest you not to create anything which is fraudant...

Without this aren't you eligible? If your total score is reaching 67 then why do u wanna take risk... just send them watever you have

Oh so it is written as diploma on your certificate? Then you'll get 22 points only... No matter what insti has written in the reference letter but, VO take it as diploma only.... If your diploma is of 3 years then you'll get 22 points

I also have Post Graduate Diploma from Niagara college, Ontario and it is equivalent to Masters but, in my previous application I was awarded only 20 points coz my course was not of 3 years.

VO contacting SCDL may go in my favor.

Factor 1- Education B COM from Uni of Delhi. (grad. , PG Degree, PG Diploma) etc

20 (may be 22 if my Masters Diploma, Symbiosis, Distance learning is Acceptable)

Factor 2- English (IELTS bands)

14 ( L-9, R- 7.0, W-7.5, S-6.0)

Factor 3- Work Ex. (in which field, years)

21 (6 yrs Financial Manager)

Factor 4 & 5 - Age and Adaptability.

Age - 10 (im 32, single)


TOTAL - 65 or 67

Honestly speaking, more chances of getting 65 points but, is ur diploma of 3 years?

Why didn't u go for IELTS again? you could have claim 16 there only if you cud have score better.

you need to understand something guy, if you are short of points and you are also short in IELTS bands then, keep trying to score better in IELTS only rather then cooking something in Education or Experience which may lead you to do a mistake and can result you a refusal with a mark of mis-representation....

I know it is little late in your case but, you can send that diploma with you a very good cover letter stating the weightage of it and also write a few lines about your knowledge in field of finance which will help you to establish easily in Canada.... This kinda letter may generate benefit of doubt in VO's mind and it will be in your favor

Masters diploma was of 2 years.
Tried IELTS again, after sending full docs, again i got 14.
also, people here said VO wont accept a TRF after submission of full docs.

in my full doc, i hv sent my degree ( B COM) , my Symbiosis diploma, all work ex docs , reference letters,
with a decent cover letter.

that letter i hv procured from SCDL, in order to strengthen my Diploma's weigh.
will be sending it asap.

yeah i was awarded only 20 points for my bachelors degree from India... I had two different diplomas from Canada but I did not get any point for 'em

FSW1 fails, i ll go on student visa. and then apply in Exp class after 3 yrs.

well I had not even expected any point for my PG Diploma and i was refused in my prev appli due to no job duties mentioned on my exp. letter and no reference letter was attached for my work experience.

the only change in my current appli has from prev one is better IELTS score and more no. of work experience.

Well once you apply for FSW and even if you get a refusal the chances of getting student visa are very slim as you have already shown your intension to settle down in Canada.
