Has anyone open or inquire about opening Scotia bank account from India. I inquire in my city but the service is not available here. Can any one please share any contact numbers of bank representative you may have who can help me?

You can add the PO Box no. also, it does not matter. The Courier (Blue Dart) are doing this everyday, for them it is a routine job. Even if you just write Canadian High Commission, New Delhi they will deliver it !!! (Just joking !

Thanks for the link. However my problem is that Scotia Bank is only in Mumbai. So even I contact them I need to go to Mumbai to open an account. I called them they told me that contact your local HDFC branch and ask them to contact HDFC Marin Drive branch in Mumbai who can open me an account. I did that. Unfortunately no one is answering the phone in Marin Drive Branch...

So if any one who can provide me a contact person and number for HDFC Marin Drive branch... That would be a great help.

I couldn't find Marine Drive number specifically, however their are other branches dealing in Forex services, you can see details at:

@ tarak, i am agree with you... what he is talking is baseless....
here is a great chance that an election in Canada may happen very soon (Mostly its in MAY). But CIC working on applications, as we got lots of visa last week and getting medicals and in process... so its not that they have stoped working on the pre or post june application....
Since the position to Minister of Citizenship and Immigration Canada is by appointment, The Honorable Jason Kenney, current Minister of CIC may not be affected by the upcoming election especially if the Conservative party still wins the majority of the seats at the House of Commons. However, if Harper’s party fails, a new Prime Minister will be appointed and even if Mr. Kenney maintains his seat at the House of Commons there is a great chance that he will lost the position as the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration Canada.

Contacting other branch may not give you any information as they themselves don't have.

You can speak to Uma & and send a COPR & Passport copy along with the application form.

I think they will accept it.

we really do not know what the changes will be in the first place. I was just looking into the possibility of a change that this election will bring about. If a new party and Prime Minister is elected, chances are a new outline to further enhance the system and reduce backlog will be implemented.
can not say if the current Action Plan is better than what the Liberal or other parties can offer in terms of immigration and citizenship.
Whether there will be a spring election or none, if you have plans of immigrating to Canada and you are eligible why not submit your application now?

For an alternative you can open an account in HSBC bank.
It is among top 10 banks in Canada and it has presence in your home town and you can open an NRI account.

I found the contact details of Marine Drive Branch...And luckily I can do it from My City.

Yes you are right.. Only Marine Drive Branch knows about it. I found the contact details, Actually I mate with Branch manager of the HDFC Bank near my house. He phoned to Marine Drive and there is a lady who called me back with the details about how I can open my account from my Local branch. I am from Surat BTW. I was about to call to the number you gave me but I received a call from them before I press the call button. so everything is done. She told me I would require Passport Copy, Other docs Received with Visa and a Ticket. So I would require to Book a ticket first then can proceed with account opening.

With visa I have received only one other document that is called GENERIC DOCUMENT - 3 PART DISTRIBUTION (with a small number written in the botton IMM 5292). Just to confirm we receive only these two documents right ?

Yes Imran,

We receive only this two documents.

IMM 5292 is COPR (confirmation of Permanent Residence)

You need to send photocopy of your Passport, Visa, COPR and application form in original.

Also keep in mind to open the joint account as it will help you to as a proof to apply for SIN card.

Once they receive all these documents, they will mail it to Canada & you will receive an E-mail after a week or 10 days with your account details.

Hi friends it really a patience testing situation ,,,,,,,,,,,,one u may also noticed that there is saperate P times mention on cic website the have mentioned 11 months for applicants between post nov 2008 and 25 june 2010......it surely says 11 months are not for post 26 june applicants ........................the delay is out of understanding ...............

Isn't it CHC mentions the 11 MONTHS of processing TIME from the RECEIVING of full documents/ complete application package (our second AOR) .
