Our file was supposed to be sent to Rome Visa Office, but instead they have sent it to Ottawa.
We have no idea why and still waiting. File app was done in April 22nd 2014. If you have any infos or opinions that you'd like to share it could be helpful. Good luck to all of us.

That's awesome, it means you're probably going to be processed really fast! It's been happening to a lot of people from Sydney, London, Paris. Apparently, as I've read a few times in this forum, it's because they're sending straightforward applications to Ottawa or Mississauga to reduce backlog at other VO's? That's strange because Mississauga seems to have the worst backlog of all.

Anyway don't worry about it, Ottawa has been the fastest office lately.

I really hope you're right. Hopefully the next 2-3 months we can have the Visa issued. Even though I have to admitt that the Ottawa time line (16 months) scares the hell out of me.

The actual processing times for Ottawa in this forum have been between 4 and 8 months (maybe a little more for some). We go by the trends in the forum rather than the posted processing times on the website, because that seems to be more accurate.
Good luck!

Note that Ottawa handles applications for applicants from many different countries and the "16 months" is an average for 80% of the applicants. People with the best timelines are American citizens with solid applications, who have been averaging 3-6 months recently. For others, it is quite variable. I discuss this a bit more in a different thread:

Thank you for your answer. It makes sense what you're saying. Our application has gone smoothly so far. No missing documents, no red flags. Got approved as a sponsor on June 12th and my wife received her certeficat de selection quebec on September 7th. Anyway, it is what it is. We all have to wait. It's not easy but we all know that this waiting will end soon.

Join the Rome thread.

You will see that it is normal not to hear anything from Rome for awhile. Don't worry.

You were so right. We just got Request for Passport today so they can issue her Visa. Ottawa was so fast and we're very happy about it. I will update my timeline so my experience could help future applicants. This forum has been so helpful. Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences. Any questions anyone don't hesitate to ask me. I'll be more than glad to help anyone.

Congrats :)

Congratulations :)

@ visitor2405 what is your time line and how did you find out what VO your app was sent to? If you don't mind sharing your story.
Could it be that if the sponsored person is in Canada they do it this way or Rome was just backed up at the time?
