Wow, really?! I was expecting another month. I don't want to get my hopes up...

Keep me posted on how long it takes to get the passport back :)

Congrats can_80_n!
I wish my file was transferred to LA instead of NYC. I am on the east coast so I chose NYC, but now I plan to wait out the process with my family in CA. ...shoulda chose LA :'(

Congratulations can_80_n--That is great news about your PPR. Yes, please update us about what happpens with your visa. I have shivers when I think of my passport travelling through the mail or FedEX!

My file was transferred to Detroit. My timeline looks like this:
App to Miss on June 2, 2010
Sponsorship Approved and File Transferred to Buffalo on July 5, 2010
In process since August 20, 2010
File Transferred on August 31, 2010
AOR Letter from Buffalo received September 2, 2010

Is there any common reason why our files were chosen for transfer? Or is it entirely random? Any theories anyone? I know our file was "super complete". We included every email we wrote, photos, stubs, etc. The whole thing weighed 3.5 pounds. And we are older with no kids, etc.

I am bummed about not being able to go to Buffalo and just pick everything up. I've been planning on that for months. By my records there are six of us in the "transfer thread". bonacker, can_80_n, abedelia, onthemove, giggles1985, and ceegee.

Are there any others out there?

Hey, I'm joining you guys. I got a letter that my file was transferred to NYC. The letter's postmark was September 1st but there was no other date on the letter.

I've heard lots of bad things about NYC.. I'm really hoping it doesn't take much longer and that they don't lose any of my documents! :(

I never got an AOR in the mail from Buffalo.. just the letter notifying of the transfer. Will NYC sent me an AOR?

That's interesting that you got a file transfer letter but not an AOR. I'm not sure about NYC, but I never received any information from LA letting me know that they got mine or anything. MY AOR came from Buffalo before the transfer.

Hey guys--

We finally got our AOR letter from Buffalo, five days after they had transferred our file to Detroit!!

My question is this: After your file was transferred did you get an AOR letter from the new satellite office? If so, when? If not, how did you send information to them?

Detroit shows five months processing times.

What do NY and LA show?

Anyone get your file transferred to Seattle?

Hi CeeGee, NYC's website shoes 6 months processing time. I've also yet to get an AOR from Buffalo so maybe mine will come at some point too!

@ CeeGee - I did not get an AOR from my satellite office. I only sent them more information when they asked for it and I used the stickers that Buffalo gave me with the AOR.

I didn't find any posted times for PR on the LA website but, from reading other's experience on here, they seem to usually take 1 month.

A lot of people seem to get it faster than the 'normal' time (Buffalo's normal time is 4-10 from when it arrives at their office, and some people have been getting them after just a month or so at Buffalo!), so I'm hoping it will be faster!

I just realllllllllllllllly hope that they don't lose anything out of my file and that they actually start looking at it soon!

Here's a chart! It's as un messy as I can get :)

I'm bored, haha...

You guys should put your cases on trackitt, since there aren't very many in the satellite offices. The few I saw processed through NYC were very quick, but that was earlier in the year... still gave me some hope though :)

I guess I am joining you guys! I got an email from Buffalo today that my file has been transferred to Detroit. Does anyone know if I can go in person to Detroit to drop off? How do I get on Trackitt? Also CeeGee where did you find the info on the processing times for Detroit.

I'm nto sure if you can in person, but their website says they are open to the public.

/ Monday: 08:30 – 16:00
Tuesday: 08:30 – 16:00
Wednesday: 08:30 – 16:00
Thursday: 08:30 – 16:00
Friday: 08:30 – 16:00

Comments: Same-day service for in person visitor visa applications from 8:30 to 11:00, Monday to Friday. The office is closed between 12:00 and 13:00.

I did find this about the timeline on the same website as well:
Permanent Residence Applications

Spouses/Common-law Partners/Dependant Children
>Within 6 months from receipt of a completed application from the Case Processing Centre in Mississauga (Canada).
which doesn't really help, lol!

I'm kind of in the same boat with the in-person thing. I know that LA does allow people to come in to apply for visas and stuff but I'm not sure about the actual getting of the visa. Does Detroit have a phone number? I plan to call LA once I get my PPR and ask them if I can stop by.
