Hello friends

One of my close friend faced rejection of PR file today. Reason for the rejection is as below:

"He submitted PCC for the current address where he is staying for the past 13 years (year 2002 onwards). His age is 38 years and immigration officer rejected his application bcos NO PCC had been submitted for the period before 2002."

Could anyone advice on this matter ???

That's odd. Didn't CIC ask for personal history going back 10 years only? Where did your friend live before 2002 - was it in a different country/state?

This is an ongoing slaughter of rejecting applicants who have date/address bound pcc's.

If his pcc covered last 10 years, he can definately start a cse and argue his case.

You're right StAnger...Now am worried about my case also. My AOR is 14th November and me too submitted the PCC for my stay of past 13 years. On 20th November, I was told to submit Schedule A and I did it very next day i.e. 21st Nov.

Can't say what happens to my case now.

Many applicants are in similar situation and cic is just axing without giving a second chance.

When did your frnd receive an AOR?

As for you, can you get a pcc from passport office? I have seen folks getting pcc from passport office and submitting it via cse.

When i filled my personal history, I filled data for past 10 years. I am 29 now, so provided past 10 years data but the form always would say incomplete. Then I had to go back till my 18th birthday and only then the form got validated. I am not sure if others are facing this issue, but I did.

Also the rejection of PCC in this case is probably connected to what I faced with the forms I believe. The best thing to do now is to get PCC from PSK office which does not mention any address but covers the whole stay in the country, if your current address and the passport address is the same it would take roughly 1-2 hours to get the PCC. Once you get that, raise a CSE and attach this new PCC explaining your case. I seriously wish they consider and let your application proceed. Good luck.

His AOR date is 27th Nov.

Yes I can apply for PCC via Passport office. Hope this is the final option left to me.

Hi Shankargv

I too provided my all the details since the age of 18 except PCC. Now I am planning to apply PCC via passport office and submit thru CSE.

Thanx for the advice and good wishes.

He was rejected pretty soon, which isnt a bad thing considering that he can redo his profile and get back into the pool and get ITA.

I have a feeling that this is enterily based on which officer is assessing your file. Its been more than a month for you, which could be a good sign and may be you have slid through the cracks. Nevertheless, dont leave it on fate, get a PCC from passport office, raise a CSE and send it over and hope for the best.

Nowhere does CIC state that Police Certificates should cover only last ten years of your life. If anything, it can be interpreted that they should at least cover the period since you were 18 years old. But even that is not mentioned anywhere by CIC. If you are 18 years or older you must provide a PCC for every country in which you have resided for more then 6 months, period.

I'm sorry that your friend got rejected but the fact remains that CIC officer had every right to reject him.

CIC never mentioned that we should get PCC only for the past 10 years. Please read the below

Police certificates

You will need to get police certificates for you and each of your family members who are over 18. You must get one from each country or territory where you have lived for six or more consecutive months since the age of 18.

In some countries, it can take a long time to get police certificates. If you did not start the process to get them before you were invited to apply, you should do this right away, so you can submit them before the 60 days are up.

That is true. However, in asking for applicant's addresses, CIC asks only for the past 10 years, if the participant is more than 28 years old. I would imagine that in determining whether Police Certificates are required, CIC officers rely on the address information supplied.

Police certificates are usually not issued for a particular address. At least those certificates I know of. If there is an address on it, this simply means that this is your current address registration, not that this is the address the certificate is valid for. If such a certificate says that you're clear, this means that you haven't ever been convicted in the country. The only exception is when a certificate is issued at the level of a state or province instead of an entire country. However, the poster says that his friend didn't live in another city before moving to his current address. And the CIC asks for only 10 years of personal history. I don't see how they had grounds to conclude that he must have lived elsewhere before that for which he needed a PCC.
