Few questions on my PR application (WES and Police Report)

Hi everyone,

I submitted my application on January 30 and I received the invitation to apply on Feb 5 (my score was 493). So I had little time to start gathering the documents and learn more about the process so please bear with me. My questions here are based on what I am seeing in the PR application. Maybe some of the information that I am confused about now might be requested later. However, I wanted to make sure so I don’t miss to submit important information and risk being rejected so please excuse me for maybe being extra vigilant.

I have compiled a few questions below:

  • I lived in Canada during my Ph.D. studies. Do I need to request a police certificate from the Canadian authority? I found a statement online that mentions that there is no need to do so but what confuses me is that the application does not request so far submission of my biometrics. Sorry but I don’t want to take any risk :)
  • My highest degree (Ph.D.) is from Canada and I received points for it. Do I need to get WES for my undergraduate and Master's degree which I have obtained from my home country? Should I only submit my transcript?
  • We did not receive points for my wife’s education during the first phase. She obtained her degree from our home country. Do we need to go through WES for her? If I can save the money and time on this it will be great.

No need to request a police certificate from Canada, because they will run your biometrics through the system and that's covered in their background and security checks. You will get the request to submit your biometrics later on once you've submitted your application.

I'm not sure about this, from what i've heard you only need to submit documents supporting your highest academic qualification for which you received points, in this case that would be your PhD. But hopefully someone else can confirm this.

If you received all your points independently of points for wife's education, then i don't think you need to submit an ECA for her education. However, i'm also not 100% sure about this, and it would be better for someone else to confirm this as well.

Thank you for your reply.
I hope someone can confirm your answers to be on the safe side.
