Hi,
I have few questions regarding our first entry to Canada:
1) I'm currently in USA on H1B visa. I intend to make my first-entry with my family to Canada within a month. I'm planning a short visit (over a weekend) and we intend to move permanently later. First of all, is this arrangement acceptable?
2) If this short visit is OK, do I still need to show proof of money possessed (being a family of 4 (2 adults + 2 children), I'm supposed to carry CAD18000+)? If yes, since carrying cash is not a good way, how am I supposed to show proof? Can I show a printout of my account balance in a bank in Singapore? Also, there is a column in the "Confirmation of PR" document called "Money in possession"; if I'm showing only bank statement, what should I fill in this field?
3) They have indicated the destination as Vancouver, BC. Will it be ok if I make our first entry elsewhere (e.g. Toronto)?
4) Do they ask for an address in Canada? If I do not have anyone there, can I give my US address itself?
Thanks a lot in advance,
Dhanan.
