Hello everyone!

I am in Canada with a 3 month visitor visa that was granted to me at the border, I travelled from a EU country.
Now my tourist visa expires in the middle of November! I would like to extend it, assuming online is the quickest way to do it?
When is the latest I can renew my Temporary Visa for another 3 months, and is the process instant online?
How many times can I renew it?

While in Canada on a Temp. visa is it possible to apply for a work visa, or do I have to leave first?

And last but not least, while on a Temp. Visa can I get a driver's license in Canada (ie. going to the DMV, completing the forms/tests)? Or do I need to be a resident?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Your extension request must be submitted and received by CIC before your current visitor visa expires. No - if you apply online you do not receive an instant reply. Whether you apply online or by mail, you will have to wait several weeks / months before you receive a reply and know if your extension has been approved.

There is no guarantee your extension will be approved. There is no limit to how many times you can request an extension. However it's reasonable to expect that it's not indefinite and if you keep requesting extensions, sooner or later your request will be refused.

Okay so if I apply online, and I am still waiting for a reply and my current visa expires do I have to leave?
Or is that "implied visa" in effect?

One thing I must add is that you should apply 30 days before your Visa expires. Ref: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/extend-stay.asp

Back to your question, yes, if you have applied to extend your visa within the required time-frame; you would be in Canada on implied status.

FYI, the current processing time is 19 days for online visa-extension application inside Canada(link: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/temp.asp).
