Dear frnds,

I have 1.5 years of experience in software testing in an IT firm and my academic details are listed below.

10th - 50 %
12th - 64 %
Graduation(BE - Electrical and electronics engineering) - 63 %

I am planning to join Information Systems Business Analysis Program in george brown college. Its a 12 month course(8+4 co-op).

What are my chances of fetching a job in the 1 year pgwp period. After going through few posts in this forum,I could see many people saying that it is almost impossible to fetch a job in the one year period and get a PR.

Can anyone please tell me why it is so difficult to get a job in canada.I feel 1 year is long enough to fetch a job there. Please let me know if there are any difficulties which I am not aware of.

Please let me know what is the best way to get PR after studying a 1 year course in Canada.

Thankzz in advance.

It's difficult because you'd need to start full time work the day your PGWP gets issued, and even then PR is not guaranteed - it's possible to still fall a couple days or weeks short. Toronto being very competitive, you might be better off studying in Saskatchewan and applying under their provincial program. All the best!

best chance is to get your off campus work permit after 6 months of full time study, and look for employment while you are still at school, even internship. The experience you gained while on off campus work permit will not be counted towards your permanent residence application, but you would get a better chance start full time employment right away after you graduate. In addition, usually software companies would be able to get your an Lmo as long as they intend to keep you.

there are also other immigration stream you can use if you graduate from a public institution and got a permanent full time job offer, skilled. You can apply pr without needing work experience, also pnps are also alternatives.

so start look for a job and start work while in school, and secure a permanent job offer after graduation, work harder and keep a good relationship with your employer, then you will be fine.

If PR is really important to you, take a two year course and get a longer PGWP. If your PGWP is only 1 year long, it's likely going to be difficult for you to get the experience you need to apply for CEC before your PGWP expires.

Yager,

What do you mean by pnp?

Provincial Nominee Program.

1 year program will give you 1 year PG work permit.
2 year program will give you 3 years PG work permit.

This is the general case. As you can see to get 1 year job experience, then apply for PR - very very tough to do with 1yr PGWP. But if you join a 2 year program, you will get 3yr PGWP. Then you can get 1 year job experience, apply for CEC, become Permanent resident, and your PGWP will still have 6 months on it (obviously you won't need PGWP anymore once you have become a PR).

Dear,

How is life in Moose Jaw? How big it is? And is there any job opportunities there? As I am thinking to take admission in SIAST College Moose Jaw.
Also tell me how is Insurance program as future point of view in Canada?
Please reply. Thanks

Hi,

I was on the same boat when I took up a one year program and was considering continuing studying or deciding to work. First off, I started networking for jobs even before I came to Canada. It takes about a year to connect and develop contacts so I'd advise that you start networking as soon as you come to Canada or possibly before that (for example if your company has a branch/es in Canada). Start attending job fairs, talk to your professors, friends of friends, relatives anyone that you can think of who can help you get a job.

Everyone is going to say hard but all I have to say is it is hard but it is not impossible. Just don't expect a job to land magically in your lap. You will need a full time job as soon as your pgwp starts or before it starts. The key is to start networking early and to never stop until you have found a job. You can also look into studying and working in the west like Alberta, Saskatchewan or Manitoba. The pnp programs for these provinces encourage international students who study in these provinces to immigrate there.

Good luck!

Cheers.

Your question doesn't really make sense. What do you mean by "status"? You'll have to explain in more detail.
