Fellowships for specialities in Surgery

I am interested in applying for canada immigration, would like to know few things before doing so.

I hold a post graduate degree in General surgery, at present i am working as Associate professor in medical college in india. I would like to know if post graduation in general surgery from india is recognized in canada for fellowships?
Also i would like to know the experiences of international doctors practising in Canada, on an average how long does it take to pass the certification exams?

well I think it depends upon one s own capabilities.I know a fellow who has appeared in the exam for 7 times but could not make through till today,whereas there r many who ve cleared it in their first attempts.cheers
