I am starting this thread to facilitate the applicants who wants to apply for the Canadian passport specially those who are applying for the first time. Please share you experiences with different offices located around the Greater Toronto Area so that applicants can go or avoid any particular office.

Let me share my experience. I went to the office in Whitby. Although, i live in Scarborough but I went to the Whitby office based on the following reasons:

1- They are opened on Saturdays also
2- People have written very good review for them with regards to their friendly staff and quick processing of the clients.I found this 100% correct
3- Plenty of parking (free) as it is located in large shopping plaza
4- The entrance is indoor so you can wait inside of the mall at the entrance so you can avoid standing/waiting in the cold weather
5- Located very close to highway 401
6- Service Ontario is also located within the same plaza just in case you want to visit them.

My experience was very good. There were more then 50 people before me but i was called by their representative at 09.07 whereas the office opens at 09.00 am. I was out after completing everything at 09.25.

Now, share your experiences so that the other people in line can be benefited.

Well, I’m not from the GTA, but after going to the Service Canada in Ottawa I waited 5 weeks for the passport to arrive. I thought that applying at Service Canada might add a day or two to the process, but apparently it adds more.

So my only advice - go to the Passport Office.

Both my wife and I have been to the passport office right downtown Toronto on Victoria street. Never had a problem and passports were always ready on the date promised.

what was the wait time there?

I went in 2013 during the early afternoon (maybe around 2 pm). It was maybe a 5 minute wait at most. My wife went around lunch time (noon-ish) a few weeks ago and waited maybe 10 minutes.

It's faster if you download the forms, complete it and print it off and take that.

People with those hand-filled paper forms wait a long while, lolz

Today, i received my passports. Wonderful service by the Whitby office. I got the passports exactly on the 10th day i.e. 8 business days.

My son was born in Toronto last year and we went to the passport office on Victoria Street in downtown Toronto. Super helpful and very quick turnaround. If I recall correctly we got his passport in the post about 2 weeks after they took the application in.
