Hello Guys,

I'm in the express entry's pool with 458 points (me and my wife), and a few hours ago we received a letter of interest from Ontario.

Now we don't know what we should do, because the OINP is quite expensive and takes a long time to be proccessed, also there is a good chances that the points of the federal proccess fall down.

What do you guys think we should do? Accept the OINP or refuse it and wait for the federal?

Thanks.

Wait for few days and see what happens. Mean while start gathering the documents also if you don receive ITA , you can then quickly send the application.

Thank you for the answer. We'll wait a few more weeks to answer that. Who knows if the next draw will call under 458 points. ;D

Now we are reading about the documentation that we need to provide them, and we are concerned about one topic.

in the Application Guide for Ontario Human Capital Priorities Stream we found this:

"Your passport must have been valid for at least two years prior to submission
of your nominee application. If your passport has not been valid for at least
two years (i.e., the previous passport expired less than two years before the
submission of the nominee application), then copies of all of the pages of
your previous passport must also be included; "

We got our first passport last year (Jun/2014). So it has been valid for only one year and five months. Do you think it could be a problem for us? We don't want to waste money in a process that we have no chances.

Thanks!

Oh no, no. That means your passport must be valid for at least two years. For example, the expiry date on your passport must be at least December 13, 2017 (in case if you were submitting your application).

For example, my passport was expiring in September and I applied for OINP in July. So, what I did is applied for new passport, received it and attached the copy of both the passports with the application.

You have nothing to worry about your passport. Hope this helps!

Nightrocker, thanks for the answer.

I sincerely don't know what to think about it. I'll paste the entire section of the document that discusses this:

"
  • Your passport must have been valid for at least two years prior to submission
of your nominee application. If your passport has not been valid for at least
two years (i.e., the previous passport expired less than two years before the
submission of the nominee application), then copies of all of the pages of
your previous passport must also be included; AND
  • Your passport should be valid for at least two more years. If you are unable
to renew your passport prior to applying to the program, you must apply with
your current passport with an explanation of why your passport could not be
renewed at the time of the application.
"

You can see that they clearly speak about two years before and two years after.

OINP ask for the copies of your PREVIOUS passport, IF your last(new) passport is "too fresh" (you have it less than 2 years).

Did you save your old one? Can you make copies of it?
If not, you may ask OINP about this situation via emails: ontarionominee@ontario.ca or opportunities.ontario@ontario.ca

I don't have an old one, this is my first passport, and it is "too fresh".

I'll send an email asking this. Thanks.

That's it. That's your answer. Write a letter saying that this is your first passport, and you do not retain any previous passports.

If I were you, I would do that.

Does this passport thing applied to both (primary applicant and spouse) or only to the primary applicant?

Yes, both of us.

We got our first passports at the same time.

You have nothing to worry about. Just do as Nightrocker says - mention this in your 'Letter of Explanation' (LoE) and send photocopies of every page including the blank ones along with your application.

Hi guys!

I came back here just to say thank's to you all, and that we decided to ignore the PNP. A few days after we received the ITA! ;D

Thank you guys!
